What's the story?

Former Manchester United player Roy Keane has reignited his feud with Sir Alex Ferguson, and the Irishman claimed that the former United boss did not have the club's best interests at heart.

In case you didn't know..

The public feud between Keane and Ferguson began with the release of Sir Alex's autobiography in 2013.

In the autobiography, Ferguson has mentioned an excerpt of a MUTV interview that Keane participated in, where the latter criticised members of the Manchester United squad.

Ferguson wrote, "It was unbelievable, He slaughtered everyone. Darren Fletcher got it, Alan Smith. Van der Sar. Roy was taking them all down. I told him 'What you did in that interview was a disgrace, a joke. Criticising your teammates and wanting that to go out."

Ferguson further added that when he confronted Keane about it, he shockingly replied that all players need to see the interview and then decide about it. The meeting which followed about the interview was termed as 'horrendous' by Sir Alex.

Since then, Keane has never let go of a single opportunity to hit back at Ferguson in public whenever asked about the same.

The heart of the matter...

In an interview with 'Off the Ball', Keane again took the opportunity to criticise Sir Alex Ferguson about favouring his own family into getting staff roles at the club.

Keane said, "I wouldn’t forgive Ferguson. The media spin, how I apparently upset everybody, it was all nonsense. People talk about Ferguson’s man-management. Nonsense. People said he always had the best interests of Manchester United at heart. Darren Ferguson [his son] won a medal. He was very lucky."

He further went on to add that Alex Ferguson’s brother was the chief scout for Manchester United for a long time and he was surprised his wife wasn’t involved in the staff somewhere.

Keane also shed some light on Darren Ferguson's career later in the interview.

He said, “Darren was [the manager] at Preston North End and lost his job. He had a couple of young players on loan from Manchester United, [but] guess what happens the next day? They’re pulled out of Preston. Is that doing the best for Manchester United?"

The interview also featured Gary Neville who seemed utterly perplexed during Keane's rant.

What's next?

When Keane was asked whether he would ever love to end his feud with Sir Alex, he said, "I think when he apologises I will probably say hello to him, yeah. [But] I’ve no interest in speaking to the man."
