Manchester United News: Ole Gunner Solskjaer wishes to replicate the form of 'Sir Alex's team'

Newcastle United v Manchester United - Premier League
Change in manager has changed Manchester United's fortune for good

Manchester United's caretaker manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer hopes to replicate the attacking flair they had during Fergie-Era. Speaking in a press conference before Manchester United's encounter against Reading in the 3rd round of FA Cup he expressed his wish to replicate the flamboyance of Manchester United under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson.

It has been a dream start for the Machester United's interim manager with the Red Devils as Ole Gunner Solskjaer was quick to turn around the fortunes of Manchester United. He has been a breath of fresh air around Old Trafford and managed to rejuvenate the confidence and morale of the squad.

After four straight wins in his first four games, Solskjaer will be looking forward to overseeing fifth successive win over a struggling Championship side. Ever since Solskjaer has taken over the reins from Jose Mourinho, he has managed to instill an attacking approach which is exactly opposite to Jose Mourinho's 'sit back and defend' approach.

Despite being the coach for a few weeks, Solskjaer is being lauded for the good job he has done so far by bringing the best out of the players in the current squad.

Solskjær was quoted by Guardian: “If we get to the summer and people are talking about the way Manchester United are playing. The style we’re playing – [if] it reminds us of Sir Alex’s team. It has to start with the way we play, because results you cannot control. You can control how you approach the game and how you play. And of course trophies. If you can get to the final of the FA Cup and get a trophy [that might be a factor]. Let’s see in May if it’s [my tenure is] a success or not.”

It is true that Manchester United looks unrecognizable under Ole Gunner Solskjaer. They are an extremely different side than they were during the chaotic times under Jose Mourinho.

Solskjaer was himself one of the favorite students and decorated attacker under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson and believes he can replicate the form and the flair of great teams under Sir Alex.

As the interim manager himself admits, he is bound to make the job of Manchester United board difficult if United continues with their good performances. As Ole Gunner Solskjaer dreams to bring the good old days back at Old Trafford, it remains to be seen whether United can keep up with their positive displays consistently.
