#4 Manchester United ready to pay £80m for Harry Maguire

With just a week left to the end of the transfer window, Manchester United are pressed for time to complete their recruitment for the summer. The Red Devils continue to be linked with quite a few names, but perhaps none of them are as vital as Harry Maguire. The Leicester City defender has been pursued by United for quite a few weeks now, however, the Foxes have refused to budge from their valuation of the defender. The Premier League giants already have a £70m bid turned down by Leicester, who want £90m for their star man. United were reluctant to match their asking price for Maguire, until now.

Sky Sports reports that Manchester United have come to a decision regarding the Englishman and are now ready to pay £80m for his services. The figure would certainly transcend the amount Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk when they bought the Dutchman from Southampton in 2018. It would also mean that the Englishman would become the costliest defender in the world.

Maguire has been Solskjaer's preferred choice for the centre back role, and the player has even informed Leicester City his desire to leave for United. The Englishman hopes to emulate the achievements of his idols Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at Old Trafford and is desperate to join the Red Devils this summer. Leicester City are ready to let him leave, provided United match their asking price and here in lies the problem.

The Foxes are under no pressure to sell a player who still has 4 years left in his contract. As such, they are reluctant to let the Englishman leave for anything less than their £90m valuation, a decision that has left Harry Maguire extremely frustrated. Manchester United, though, will have to step up their efforts because time is certainly not on their side and another season without a world class centre back to partner Victor Lindelof would be diabolical.

#3 Juventus Sporting Director lands in England for Paulo Dybala transfer talks

It was revealed only yesterday that Juventus and Manchester United are working on a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala. It has certainly looked like a win-win situation for United, because Solskjaer will be trading a player he does not want, for a player he admires. And both clubs seem to be eager to see a deal through.

Sky Sports reports that the sporting director of Juventus, Fabio Paratici, is in England to accelerate negotiations. Paratici will work with United representatives as well as the agents of both players, in order to get the transfer over the line as soon as possible. A deal between the two clubs is already in place, with Lukaku also willing to make the move to Juventus. Only the final decision from Paulo Dybala remains.

The Argentinean is due to have a discussion with Maurizio Sarri, after arriving at Turin at the end of his vacation. A positive response, for the United fans, is widely expected.

#2 United favourites to sign teenage sensation Hannibal Mejbi

16-year-old Hannibal Mejbi has attracted the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe with his performances with France under 16 side last season. The Frenchman even scored his first goal against Ivory Coast in April of this year. The teenage midfielder is a sensational talent and it now looks like he could be Solskjaer's next acquisition this summer.

Sky Sports reports that Manchester United are confident of signing the 16-year-old from Monaco, and are the favourites to strike a deal with the Ligue 1 side for the services of Mejbi. The Frenchman is yet to play for Monaco's senior team but has already caught the eye in the youth set up.

United's transfer policy this summer has shown an affinity for young players, with the Red Devils already securing the services of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, both 21 years old. Solskjaer wants United's rebuilding to start with a strong base of talented young players and Hannibal Mejbi certainly fits the bill.

#1 Zlatan wants United to let Paul Pogba leave

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has advised his former club to let Paul Pogba leave this summer. Speaking ahead of the MLS all star game, where he partnered old team mate Wayne Rooney, the Swede said that there's no point holding on to a man who wants to leave.

I think if [Paul Pogba] wants to leave, it makes no sense to keep him.
You let him go and if he wants to be somewhere else, that's where you let him go.
The dressing room is where the players respect each other, they're professionals, they understand each other's situations.

Zlatan also said that no club wants a player in the team who doesn't want to stay, because it is hard to understand if the person would be committed enough to the overall cause.

Who worries more is the club and the management, because you don't want a player in your club or in your team that doesn't want to stay.
Because then you know they will not give 100% or 200%, or he does that and he still doesn't want to stay. So it's a tricky situation.
What is best for the club? That's what you have to look that.

When Zlatan speaks, every else listens. But will Solskjaer?
