Manchester United are currently in Perth, preparing for their pre-season. However, not all of the squad members currently with the team are certain to remain at the club next season.

While the Pogba situation continues to hog the limelight at United, Romelu Lukaku's future is far from settled. United were due to hold talks with Inter Milan, who have been interested in the Belgian all summer, on Thursday. Piero Ausilio, the Inter Milan Sporting Director, flew to London to meet United officials in a bid to conclude the negotiations.

It was reported that Inter Milan are interested in taking the Belgian on an initial 2-year loan deal, with an obligation to buy at end of the loan tenure. However, reports suggested that United are looking for a cash-only offer. As such, the meeting between the officials of the two clubs had a lot of importance for the future of Lukaku.

The Guardian reports that the main reason for the failure of the deal being finalized is the difference in valuation of the player by the two clubs. United reportedly value him at €83.5m (£75m) but the Serie A side are reluctant to pay such a huge amount for the Belgian. Inter Milan had proposed a €10m loan deal this summer, with two instalments of €30m each in 2020 and 2021. However, the Red Devils are not interested in the deal.

The player himself has been quiet about his future. He has his heart set on a move to the Serie A. Lukaku joined United in the summer of 2017 in a £75m deal rising to £90m with add-ons from Everton. The Belgian scored 27 goals in his first season, but could only find the net 15 times last season and he fell down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Lukaku, as such, believes that a move to Inter Milan will be perfect to turn his career around.

#3 United reignite interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Manchester United have been looking to add a midfielder to their squad this summer and seem to have reignited their long-standing interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The midfield powerhouse had a quiet season by his own standards, but is still a fantastic player who could improve United, and would be the ideal replacement for Paul Pogba if the Frenchman leaves this summer.

Sky Sports reports that the Red Devils have a genuine interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a player they have been monitoring for almost 2 years. However, Lazio are reluctant to let their star leave and will demand at least £90 million for the Serbian.

The player himself is interested in a deal, but will not force a move out of the club. It is interesting to note that former United manager Jose Mourinho had personally scouted the 24-year-old last October. The Serbian has scored 31 goals from 138 appearances for Lazio so far.

#2 United shocked by Newcastle's £50m valuation of Longstaff

Solskjaer's transfer business this summer is far from over, with the Norwegian himself confirming that the club are working on a couple of transfers. It is reported that one of the players currently in United's radar is Newcastle United midfielder, Sean Longstaff. The Red Devils were initially confident of signing the youngster, but recent rumours suggest that a deal is far from done.

The Telegraph reports that United have been shocked by Newcastle's valuation of the player. Ed Woodward, the United executive vice-chairman contacted Newcastle United managing director to enquire about the youngster but was informed that he would cost £50m.

The figure is a lot more than what United were expecting. The Red Devils were preparing a bid of around £18m to £20m for the player, but have been stunned by the Magpie's asking price. The player himself is keen to make the move to Old Trafford, but United could be deterred by the transfer price demanded by Newcastle. It could even lead the Red Devils to look for other alternatives in the market.

#1 United still interested in Harry Maguire

We had revealed in this segment that United were competing with City for the signature of Harry Maguire. The Red Devils had leapfrogged their bitter rivals by even submitting a £70m bid for the player, however, Leicester City were quick to reject the offer. Since then, there have been no new developments and it was thought that United's interest in the Leicester City defender had cooled down.

However, Sky Sports reports that United are still very interested in the Englishman. The Red Devils are yet to add a central defender this summer and Maguire still leads the list. But Leicester City are adamant that they will not let the player leave unless a world-record fee for a defender is agreed. The Foxes are apparently encouraged by the fact that United paid £50m for Wan-Bissaka and believe that the Red Devils can be force to pay a lot more for Maguire, who is a far more established figure, both at club and country level, than the former Crystal Palace youngster.
