Manchester United transfer news: Man Utd want to sign star worth €700 million, Real Madrid want £90 million forward for Ronaldo and more - June 20, 2018

FC Dynamo Kyiv v Chelsea FC - UEFA Champions League
Jose Mourinho is in for a ride this summer!

Hello and welcome to the Manchester United transfer roundup for the day! Today has been a rather slow day for the Red Devils as they comparatively have much fewer stories than they usually do.

Summarising the content cup ahead, there is an update on the signing of Fred, a Real Madrid signing that gives news on Cristiano Ronaldo, a bit about Gareth Bale, Jerome Boateng, Cristiano Ronaldo himself and another Real Madrid player.

So without any further ado, let us begin!

#5 Fred and Mbappe

Manchester United had announced ahead of the World Cup that the club had reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk over the signature of Brazilian midfielder Fred.

Personal agreement with the player was yet to be reached, which is why the official announcement of completing his signing hasn’t come out yet. However, it seems as the two parties might have finally come to conclusion as the signing of Fred is expected to be announced tomorrow.

According to Sky Sports sources, the announcement of Fred as a Manchester United player is expected to be done on Thursday – which is tomorrow – as Mourinho gears up for next season.

Manchester United have been lacking a presence in midfield like Michael Carrick and while the Brazilian is not exactly a like-for-like replacement for the Englishman, his menacing presence in the middle of the pitch is always a difficult aspect for opponents to get over.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have already made plans for Cristiano Ronaldo’s future. The former Manchester United star was linked to a move back to the Old Trafford but it now seems that Paris Saint-Germain are going to be the ones that end up signing the Portugal captain.

The reason? Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman, who shook the football world with his storming presence in 2017 for Monaco, is now on the agenda of Real Madrid. According to Don Balon, PSG wants Cristiano Ronaldo and while they might not be interested in letting go of Neymar, they are willing to let Mbappe go to the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are said to be fed up with the Portuguese’s constant demands and are willing to let him go. He is also being linked with a move to Man United (more on that later).

#4 Gareth Bale

Off to PL?

The Welshman joined Real Madrid in 2013 and instantly won the Champions League and Copa Del Rey in his very first season. He, however, couldn’t live up to the expectations of being Cristiano Ronaldo’s successor as injuries hampered his way a lot.

After scoring a brace against Liverpool in the final to win his fourth Champions League title in five years, Gareth Bale announced that he would want to be plying more – be it in Real Madrid or Manchester United.

With that, rumours fuelled that up as Bale became linked to move back to England. Manchester United are very interested in signing him, which is why they are willing to offer Paul Pogba in exchange, say Don Balon.

#3 Jerome Boateng

Boateng could leave Bayern

The future of Jerome Boateng at Bayern Munich is up in the air after club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted that the player could be allowed to leave if the right offer comes in for the former Manchester City defender.

And now, according to Manchester Evening News, the Bavarians have slapped an asking price on the experienced defender. The Red Devils have been informed that they can sign the defender for as much as £50 million.

Meanwhile, Bild have a slightly higher price at £52.7 for the World Cup-winning defender. Interesting times up ahead it seems!

#2 Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal v Morocco: Group B - 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia
Ronaldo was once again the Man of the Match

Another Real Madrid player that has been linked with a move to the Old Trafford is Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese, who has scored four goals in his first two games for Portugal in the World Cup, wants a better contract to stay at Real Madrid and will leave if his wishes aren’t fulfilled.

Some reports also claim that the Portugal captain wants the club to take care of his tax fine with the Spanish treasury. Meanwhile, Manchester United await their prodigal son, say Diario Gol, and Real Madrid would be willing to sell if the Red Devils give Romelu Lukaku, who was signed by United for a total of £90 million (£75 million + £15 million add-ons).

In another report, Don Balon state that the Portuguese leaving the Bernabeu this summer is unlikely and the former Spain manager will need to have him by his side in order to succeed at the Bernabeu.

As if being linked with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale is not enough in itself, Manchester United have been linked with another Real Madrid star by El Gol Digital.

According to the report, Eden Hazard (what?!) has informed Thibaut Courtois that Marco Asensio is willing to leave Real Madrid in the summer with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United interested in him.

While he admits that he wants to stay at the Bernabeu, he is also aware that should Real Madrid sign Neymar, the Blancos will have no dearth in offers for the former Espanyol wizard, who has a €700 million release clause in his Madrid contract.
