Mourinho to be defeated?

Hello and welcome to the Manchester United transfer roundup for the day! Another day with a plethora of reports surrounding the Red Devils as the Old Trafford outfit gear themselves up for next season.

With the World Cup going on right now, clubs are perhaps busy scouting players – and United are no exception. So without further ado, let’s begin!

#5 Giggs talks up Bale

Former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has spoken about Gareth Bale and his potential move to Old Trafford. Giggs, who currently manages the Welsh national team, said that he will be happy to see his compatriot join the Theatre of Dreams.

Gareth Bale scored two goals against Liverpool in the Champions League final to give Real Madrid their third Champions League title in as many years. Just after the game however, the former Tottenham man confessed he wants to play more – whether it be at Real Madrid or someplace else, and stated that he would talk to his agent about his future and then make a decision.

As a result, the news outlets have gone berserk as they link him with a return to Tottenham Hotspur or Old Trafford in the summer. And Giggs certainly thinks that the fans would love him but also questioned why a player that has won three Champions League titles in a row at Real Madrid would want to leave the club.

“Bale? I’d be a happy United fan, that’s for sure. I think he’s a Man United player,” he said.

“I think the fans would love him. The fans would adore him but again, like I say, he’s at a club where he’s won three Champions Leagues, so why would you leave?”

Meanwhile, according to ESPN sources, Gareth Bale and Real Madrid are set for talks about the former’s future at the club.

The 28-year-old was particularly unhappy with the lack of playing time, starting from the bench against Liverpool in the Champions League final despite being in great form in the matches prior.

The word around the campfire is that Bale could make a final decision about his future after the talks with the Galacticos.

#4 United’s summer plans

Manchester Evening News have come out with some very interesting plans of Manchester United. Of course, it covers the players that they are targeting, and there are some really surprising names in there.

Despite signing Fred and Diogo Dalot, the Red Devils are apparently far away from concluding their business this summer. They want to sign a center-back, another midfielder and a forward, with an eye for Toby Alderweireld, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Gareth Bale.

#3 Cristiano Ronaldo

To break records again?

There are two contradictory reports here and we will get to it straight away. Manchester United will sign their former player in the summer, if this re-reported rumour from Mirror, originally from Libero is to be believed.

PSG are also in the hunt for him, which brings us to the next point.

According to talkSPORT, who fail to backlink their story, “reports from Spain” claim that PSG are set to break all records to bring the Portugal star to France. The price they quote is a ridiculous amount of £263 million, which rounds off to €300 million.

#2 The Goalkeepers

De Gea to stay

There is only great news in this slider as David De Gea is touted to sign a mega deal with Manchester United.

The Spaniard who was criticized for messing up a Cristiano Ronaldo shot that came straight to him, will become the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world after penning down the deal.

According to Marca, the Spain shot-stopper will be offered a package of €21 million-per-year by the Red Devils for the next five years.

It means that the former Atletico Madrid ‘keeper will earn €105 million from this deal – making him the best-paid glove-man in the history of the sport.

Meanwhile, another one of United’s talented goalkeepers, Dean Henderson, has left the club for a loan spell at Sheffield United, where he can gain some valuable experience.

#1 Sergej gets more attention

Serbia midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has only just channeled more rumours towards himself with his great outing for his nation in their opening game of the World Cup against Costa Rica.

And now, even Barcelona have entered the race for him, he already had the Red Devils and Real Madrid on his trail. Barcelona according to Mundo Deportivo, have €100 million to spend following Griezmann’s decision to stay at Atletico.

Meanwhile, if this report from Sky Sports Italia, via talkSPORT, is to be believed, then Manchester United have pulled out of the race to sign the Serbian after being put off by Lazio’s asking price of £131 million (€150 million). Real Madrid are the only ones still pursuing him.
