Former Athletic Bilbao manager Marcelo Bielsa has left his post as the head coach of Serie A club Lazio just two days after signing for them. This has prompted the club to release an angry statement on their official website.Here is the translation of the official statement on their website:
“We note with surprise of the resignation of Mr. Marcelo Bielsa, also on behalf of its employees, in clear violation of the commitments undertaken with the contracts signed last week and regularly deposited with the League and the FIGC with their required procedures. The Company reserves all actions to protect its rights. Entrusts the management of the team, currently in pre-season training, to Mr.Simone Inzaghi.”
Bielsa’s shock decision comes just days after Tata Martino resigned as the coach of the Argentine national team. Reports suggest that he could be next in line as the coach of the national team.Bielsa has previously coached Argentina between 1998 and 2004 guiding them to a Copa America final and a Gold Medal in the Olympics. Other notable teams he has coached include the Chilean national team, Newell’s Old Boys and Marseille.
