Mats Hummels dismisses all claims of a possible summer move to Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels has refused all claims of him having promised former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson that he would join the Red Devils one day.

According to a report on the Bild, the 26-year-old had given his word to the legendary manager in 2012, when he was scouting for Hummels’s current teammate at Westfalenstadion, Shinji Kagawa.

However, the defender took to his Twitter handle on Tuesday, to clarify that there was no truth in that news.

On translating the tweet, it reads:

“To clarify it: this supposed ‘promise’ is simply fictitious...and that's the friendly phrase,”

Not received any offer for him yet: Dortmund CEO

Recently, the chief executive of the Bundes Liga club, Hans-Joachim Watzke had said that they were “relaxed” over Hummels’s future over there and though the 2014 World Cup-winner was thinking about his future, they are yet to receive a good offer fro him from other clubs.

"Mats held talks with me and [sporting director] Michael Zorc 14 days ago, and informed us that he is mulling over his future. That's totally legitimate.

"He is under contract until 2017, and we have not received an offer. That's why we are completely relaxed," he told Bild.
