Barcelona Transfer News: Club unhappy with Neymar transfer saga

It now looks as though Neymar will be staying in Paris.
It now looks as though Neymar will be staying in Paris.

What's the story?

It seems as though Neymar's spectacular return to Barcelona will not occur this summer as some had expected.

Whilst some would expect this would mean business as usual, Spanish publication Marca has suggested that there could be problems in the Barcelona dressing room following this episode.

In case you didn't know...

Barcelona have started the season in mixed form, having won only one game in their first three LaLiga fixtures.

This has occurred whilst their main man, Lionel Messi, has been out with an injury to his calf which hasn't fully healed.

The heart of the matter...

As recently as last week, multiple reports were fluctuating between the deal being done and the deal being cancelled.

This wasn't due to misinformation, but more reflective of how difficult and testing the negotiations between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain had been.

Even during points where it seemed offers had been accepted, something would change in the hearts of both parties meaning more negotiations were needed.

In the end, it seems that negotiations had reached an impasse, with reports suggesting Barcelona were no longer willing to change their offer, which PSG were unwilling to agree to.

So, for now at least, Neymar will stay put in Paris, and for some, this should allow both teams to resume their new campaigns in peace, and focus on their football.

However, recent reports from Marca have suggested that there is a sense of unhappiness within FC Barcelona over how the whole affair had been handled.

In what was a high-risk effort, fans have been divided over whether Neymar's return would have been a good thing. On the one hand, it would've seen the revival of the MSN attacking trident that saw Barcelona win the treble in 2015, but on the other, it could jeopardize the club financially.

Furthermore, it has been suggested that the public offers for a whole host of important players in exchange for Neymar has had a negative impact on the dressing room as well, with some unhappy with how they have been treated.

Whilst this isn't for certain, judging by Barcelona's erratic form so far this season, there may be some truth to these claims, and although the season is young, the Catalan club will be desperate to return to their brilliant best.

What's next?

Barcelona face off against rivals Valencia at the Nou Camp on 14th September.
