Konami have announced that they have secured an exclusive deal with La Liga giants Barcelona as their ‘premium partner’ for three years. As part of the deal, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr. will grace the cover of Pro Evolution Soccer 2017, while the Camp Nou stadium will be an exclusive for the game, with competitor EA Sports’ FIFA 17 missing out on Barcelona’s stadium, in what is a big coup for Konami’s football simulation.
PES 2017 also released multiple screenshots showcasing the excellent likenesses they have created of the Catalan club, with eerily accurate virtual players showcasing their trademark playing style in Barcelona colours, both in present and historical kits. Konami also released a trailer alongside the announcement, detailing all the facets of the game players can expect to see when the game is released on 15th September, 2016.
Konami president Tomotada Tashiro relayed his pleasure at securing the deal, saying “This is a real statement of intent for us. By working closely with a team of Barcelona’s stature we can introduce the PES series to a huge global fan base. This partnership will deliver access to the very best players in the modern game and to one of the world’s most respected and ambitious clubs. The PES series is famed for its realism and control, so the fit between such a skilled team and a game that celebrates such ability is perfect.”
