Premier League 2018/19: Arsenal's predicted line-up against Huddersfield

Arsenal dropped further back in the race for the top four after their defeat to Manchester City

After failing to beat Manchester City last weekend, Arsenal find themselves in an unfamiliar position. They now sit sixth in the Premier League standings, three points off the top four. There is still hope for the Gunners to achieve top four this season though as the race is far from over.

Their opponents this week, Huddersfield, crumbled to a miserable defeat at Stamford Bridge last weekend with Gonzalo Higuain scoring a hat-trick. Their new manager, Jan Siewert, remains adamant that the club would be able to stay afloat in the Premier League this season just like they did last season. The Terriers sit rock bottom of the table with just 11 points from 25 matches thus far and they are 13 points adrift of safety.

Although Arsenal's defence has greatly weakened due to the season-ending injuries that Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding suffered, it will still be a mountain for Huddersfield to climb if they wish to beat the Gunners. It is a must-win game for the North London club who have dropped too many points in recent matches.

Despite the occasional lack of fluidity and confidence in their play, Arsenal will fancy their chances of pocketing all three points against the cellar-dwellers. Unai Emery would most likely opt for a back three so that he can include more players in the midfield. Here is a look at how the Gunners could line-up in tomorrow's game.

Goalkeeper: Bernd Leno

Leno could have done much better to prevent his side from conceding the last two goals against Manchester City. However, he did make a few inspired saves which could tempt Emery to continue playing him. The German's distribution is improving as he continues to adapt to Emery's style of play.

Centre-back: Dinos Mavropanos

With Sokratis still out injured, it is time for Mavropanos to step up. Last season, he had a few chances to play under Arsene Wenger and his physicality impressed many Arsenal fans. It will be a good opportunity for him to continue improving by gaining valuable minutes against a weaker opponent in the Premier League.

Centre-back: Laurent Koscielny

Although things might not be looking good at the back, Koscielny certainly has lots of confidence going forward. The captain scored the only goal for the Gunners in their last match and would definitely be a man to mark in set-pieces. He made vital interceptions during the game against City too and Arsenal would be counting on him to help keep a clean sheet.

Centre-back: Nacho Monreal

Having another reliable veteran defender at the back will serve Arsenal well, as the team lacks confidence in their defence. If fit, there is no reason to leave Monreal out of the starting eleven as Koscielny and he have played together for many seasons and can help each other out at the back.

Left Wing-back: Sead Kolasinac

Kolasinac has played in a very advanced role in previous matches, but it did not help the side as he often failed to track back to help Monreal. Kolasinac appears to be more well-suited to play near the midfield where he can utilise his speed and strength to push forward.

Right Wing-back: Stephan Lichtsteiner

With Bellerin and Maitland-Niles out with their respective injuries and Carl Jenkinson out of favour, Lichtsteiner is the only available right-back. Over the few games that he has played this season, the Swiss certainly has not proven to be a favourite among fans. However, his experience from all his years of football could help him out in the upcoming match.

Centre Defensive Midfielder: Matteo Guendouzi

Guendouzi was probably the most impressive player against Man City. He showed his maturity and fearlessness in the midfield. As such, he will probably be rewarded with another start against Huddersfield.

Centre Defensive Midfielder: Lucas Torreira

Torreira had a less significant impact on the game against City than expected but he has been one of Arsenal's standout players this season and should get another start.

Right winger: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Despite not scoring in the game last weekend, Aubameyang remains one of the team's most lethal players. His presence always causes opponents lots of problems as they struggle to track his runs in behind the defence.

Left-winger: Mesut Ozil

Ozil could start in a less physical game

Ozil stayed on the bench in the crucial match against City, but in this relatively easier fixture, Emery could use him to the team's advantage. After all, Ozil has shown that he still has a huge role to play in the club and is capable of creating many more chances as compared to Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi.

Striker: Alexandre Lacazette

Lacazette is easily the most hardworking attacking player in the team, always tracking back to help regain possession and draw fouls for his side. He offers much more to the team than just goals and is one of Arsenal's most important players.

Substitutes:

Petr Cech, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Shkodran Mustafi, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Iwobi, Denis Suarez, Granit Xhaka
