Premier League 2018-19: Arsenal's predicted XI vs Cardiff City

Arsenal v West Ham United - Premier League
With his first competitive victory coming last week, Emery will be looking forward to extend his happy days

Arsenal are to take on Cardiff City in matchday 4 of the Premier League. The Gunners have claimed only three points out of the nine on offer so far. Winning only against West Ham, they lost their tougher clashes with Manchester City and Chelsea.

With an easy run of fixtures ahead, Emery maybe hoping for a streak of good results. Thus, he would be wanting to win against Cardiff City, the Premier League’s newcomers.

Let us have a look at the eleven that Emery is likely to play.

Defence

Arsenal v West Ham United - Premier League
Arsenal defender, Nacho Monreal celebrates his goal against West Ham

The match against Premier League’s relegation favourites could see goalkeeper, Bernd Leno start for the first time in an Arsenal kit. The German is yet to make a breakthrough and the Cardiff clash looks like a good setting.

Sokratis and Mustafi seem to have cemented their place as the central defenders while Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal look set to start as the full backs, with the latter even grabbing a goal at the Emirates last weekend.

Midfield

Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira looks set to start on Sunday

Mateo Guendouzi is in the good books of the Arsenal faithful after three brilliant performances in the centre of the park. Having impressed Emery as well, the former Lorient midfielder looks ready for a start at Cardiff.

Lucas Torreira is also in popular demand and good displays in the last two matches could see him get the nod. Alex Iwobi’s name is also looking likely on the team sheet and my stakes are for the 22-year-old to be in the starting XI on Sunday.

Attack

Chelsea v Arsenal - Premier League
Back in training after a supposed illness, Mesut Ozil might be in the starting lineup on Sunday

Arsenal’s attack has been short of goals this season. However, one man who has stepped up and done decently is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The former Manchester United winger should be a safe bet to play as the left winger.

Mesut Ozil is also back in Arsenal training after a supposed illness last weekend and looks ready for a start to impress his supporters.

Meanwhile, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is yet to score in the Premier League this season and would be looking forward to open his account in Cardiff. The Gabonese also looks a strong contender for a starting berth.
