Premier League: Golden Boot winners of last 10 seasons

The Golden Boot is one of the top honours in the Premier League.

The English Premier League has been one of the best leagues in the world for many years. Every season, an abundant number of goals are scored in the campaign, breaking old records and setting new ones. And, every season, the top scorer of the league season is given the prestigious Golden Boot award.

Over the years, many world-class players have achieved the distinction of being the most prolific goalscorer of the league. Let us take a look at the winners of the past decade.


2008 -- Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)

Cristiano Ronaldo won the Golden Boot at Manchester United in a title-winning 2007-08 season. Under the guidance of the most successful manager in EPL history, Sir Alex Ferguson, Ronaldo scored an overwhelming total of 31 goals in 34 games for the Red Devils.

In the same season, the Portuguese also won the European Golden Shoe for scoring the most goals in the entire continent.

2009 -- Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea)

For 2008-09 campaign, Nicolas Anelka won the Golden Boot as he scored 19 goals in 36 matches for Chelsea. However, the Frenchman's goalscoring exploits couldn't help the Blues win the EPL title that season as they finished third in the table behind Manchester United and Liverpool in descending order.

Managed by Scolari, Anelka scored at a rate of 0.53 goals per game.

2010 -- Didier Drogba (Chelsea)

In 2010, Chelsea's Didier Drogba won the highest goalscoring honour in England.

Under veteran Carlo Ancelotti, the Big Ivorian scored 29 goals in his 31 matches for the London Blues as they went on to win the league that season.

2011 -- Carlos Tevez (Man City) & Dimitar Berbatov (Man United)

In 2011, the Golden Boot was shared between Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov.

Tevez, while playing for Man City, scored 20 goals in his 31 matches whereas Berbatov scored the same number of goals in 32 matches for Man United.

Although City could only manage to finish third in the PL that season, the Red Devils spurred towards another league victory under the legendary Scot, Sir Alex Ferguson.

2012 & 2013 -- Robin van Persie (Arsenal and Man United)

Robin van Persie was in the most tremendous form of his career throughout the span of 2011-12 and 2012-13.

In 2012, van Persie played for Arsenal and became the Golden Boot winner, scoring 30 goals in 38 matches. Despite his efforts, the Gunners, led by Arsene Wenger, could not secure the league title that season.

In 2013, the Dutch forward jumped ship to rivals Manchester United in a controversial move. For the Red Devils, van Persie scored 26 goals in the 38 games as he helped them win their 20th league championship, the last under Ferguson.

2014 -- Luis Suarez (Liverpool)

Uruguayan talisman, Luis Suarez, won the stunning Golden Boot award for his displays in 2013-14 season. He scored 31 goals in 33 games for Brendan Rogers's side.

The Reds finished second in the league behind winners Manchester City, the closest they came to winning the trophy in years.

2015 -- Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

Manchester City's Sergio Aguero was the Golden Boot winner in 2015. In 2014-15, he went on to score 26 goals in the 33 games he played.

The Argentine international contributed greatly to Manuel Pellegrini's side as they finished second behind Chelsea.

2016 & 2017 -- Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

Harry Kane won the Golden Boot in his first two seasons as a starter for Tottenham Hotspur.

In 2016-17, the Englishman played 38 matches, scoring 25 goals for Mauricio Pochettino's side. His team came third that season.

Kane bettered his record the next season as he scored 29 goals in just 30 matches, almost a goal in every game. In 2017-18, Spurs were runners-up in the EPL.

2018 -- Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Mohamed Salah is a name that spread like an epidemic in the footballing world, thanks to his mind-blowing stats from last season, which won him the 2018 PL Golden Boot.

The Egytian King exceeded all expectations in his debut season in England. Playing for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, he scored 32 goals in 36 games as the Reds transformed into one of the most feared sides in Europe.
