Following the disappointment of finishing only fourth and relinquishing the Scudetto in limp fashion, Juventus are looking to revive themselves in the upcoming season.

Having already begun their pre-season with back-to-back victories and recalled some of their loan players, the club's preparations are in full-swing.

Massimiliano Allegri is back at the club too, having guided the side to 11 titles in his first spell. He will now be hoping for more success, following a period of disappointment in the club's intervening two years.

The Bianconeri kick-start their league campaign in under two weeks from now with a trip to Udinese.

But ahead of their season-opener, let's look at the

5 players Juventus are likely to depend on the most in the upcoming season:

#5 Wojciech Szczesny

Wojciech Szczesny has certainly been the most underrated player in all of Juve's title successes since 2017.

Initially an understudy for Gianluigi Buffon, the Polish custodian successfully instated himself as the number one choice goalkeeper from his second season onwards.

He's been a highly reliable figure in the defense, making crucial stops to deny clear goalscoring opportunities to opposition teams whilst also distributing the ball superbly.

In 104 league games with the Bianconeri, the former Arsenal goalkeeper has conceded only 94 times and kept 39 clean sheets, even winning the 'goalkeeper of the year' award for the 2019/20 season in Serie A.

Juventus obviously boast a stoic backline but also need the last line of their defense to be in top shape to win games.

#4 Arthur Melo

Arthur's €72 million transfer from Barcelona hasn't beared as much fruit as Juventus would've liked. He'll only turn 25 this week, so he still has time to turn everything around and prove his worth to the club.

A visionary player with unmatched spatial intelligence, the Brazilian is difficult to dispossess when on the ball and uses his dribbling skills to stretch opposition defenses wide.

He's very talented but took some time to acclimatize to new surroundings, although he showed signs of settling in towards the end of the campaign.

Now, with the ambition of climbing back to the pinnacle of Italian football running high, Arthur's midfield nous will be needed more than ever.

#3 Leonardo Bonucci

Juventus have always built their title triumph on the back of a solid defense, and one of the most important members of the same has been Leonardo Bonucci.

The 34-year-old Italian veteran has played 10 seasons with the Bianconeri across two spells, more than any player in the current squad barring Giorgio Chiellini.

He's forged an excellent defensive partnership with his compatriot over the years and has made a reputation for his ball-playing capabilities, expansive passing range, and solid tackling.

As we saw once again at the Euros, Bonucci can pop up with a goal or two upfront too, whilst being dangerous in set-piece situations.

He's been a valuable figure in the squad for the last decade. Juventus will once again rely on his defensive nous and wealth of experience to help keep out the big names in the league.

#2 Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa's loan spell with Juventus started slowly but the Italian eventually settled in perfectly, becoming a talisman of sorts by the end of last season.

Now a European champion too, the winger scored and assisted eight goals each in the 2020-21 campaign. Many of those came in big games, highlighting the star's ability to step up during crucial moments.

The 23-year-old is technically gifted, possesses great vision, and can beat opponents with the ball in one-on-one situations.

He is yet to replicate his Fiorentina-level performances for Juventus but Chiesa is slowly getting there. Perhaps the tag of a Euro winner might just be the push he needed?

#1 Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo has scored 101 goals in just three seasons with Juventus!

Who else could Juventus possibly depend on for goals more than Cristiano Ronaldo?

Ever since his $100 million switch from Real Madrid, the Portuguese has been netting left, right and center for the Bianconeri. Despite being 36-years-old, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Last season, he finally got his hands on the Serie A Golden Boot at the third time of asking, following another impressive 29-goal haul. As a result, Ronaldo became the first player to finish as top-scorer in three different leagues.

He'll be hungry for more this season as the club prepares to reclaim the Scudetto from Inter Milan. More importantly, Ronaldo will be hoping to fire his side to Champions League glory, the one trophy that has eluded him since moving to Italy.
