From being labeled a "misfit" by Atletico to ending up as Manchester City's then most-expensive signing (2019), Rodri has made quite a name for himself in a short span.

Known for his defensive abilities and work rate, the Spaniard earned a regular place in Pep Guardiola's XI. He started his career with Rayo Majadahonda and then moved to Atletico's youth setup before being outcasted to Villareal. However, Los Rojiblancos couldn't ignore Rodri's growth and offered him a comeback.

He spent one full season with the current La Liga champions and earned enough plaudits to get himself a ticket to the Etihad. Priced at €67.04m, Rodri occupies the fifth spot on our list.

#4 Declan Rice - West Ham United (€67.04m)

Decland Rice is the only player on the list who isn't tied to any of the Premier League's 'big six'.

The 22-year-old has been one of the most talked about players during this year's transfer window. However, he remained with the Hammers and began his new season in spectacular fashion. Rice's performance in West Ham's Premier League opener against Newcastle United proved that he is indeed destined for something greater.

Rice is being pursued by Manchester United and Chelsea and all the credit goes to his consistent performances at the top level. It won't be long before we see the England international switch to a bigger side.

#3 Mason Mount - Chelsea (€71.87m)

The Blues are riding high at the moment. After winning the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel's side are set to bolster their squad even further to secure the Premier League title.

They have signed Romelu Lukaku with the intention of sharpening their attacking spearhead. But the club already boasts ample talent on their side and Mason Mount is among the best of them.

Fans have vested their trust in the club's 2020-21 Player of the Year and expect him to help the Pensioners bring home the trophy. The 22-year-old has also proven himself in England's shirt and helped his country finish second in Euro 2020.

#2 Bruno Fernandes - Manchester United (€86.25m)

Bruno Fernandes could be labeled Manchester United's most important player at the moment. The Portuguese's arrival from Sporting CP has changed the culture from within, and evidently, the Red Devils are back on winning terms.

In what was a scintillating first full season with United and also in the Premier League, Bruno Fernandes announced himself in style. He also bagged four Premier League Player of the Month awards and earned himself a spot in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year 2020–21.

He seems to have successfully carried forward the same form this term too. The Portugal international scored a hat-trick in Manchester United's Premier League opener against Leeds United.

#1 Kevin De Bruyne - Manchester City (€95.79m)

Grabbing top spot on our list is not just the Premier League's most valuable midfielder, but also the world's. Kevin De Bruyne is tipped as one of the most talented midfielders of all time. His vision and passing abilities are second to none.

The Belgian international is certainly a favorite to win the Ballon d'Or in the near future. There aren't many around who can match his chance creation. In the 2019-20 Premier League season, he created more chances (104) than any other player from Europe's top five leagues since 2006.

Recipient of multiple individual and team accolades, Kevin De Bruyne is expected to be the Cityzens' best player once again. Even though he is priced at €95.79m, few clubs would think twice about signing up one of the best playmakers in history.

That wraps up our list. Who are your favorites? Mention them in the comments section!
