Real Madrid transfer news: Perez says NO to January signings, Asensio wants out, and more - 18th December 2017

No Ja
No January signings?

Real Madrid won't sign any players in January

In a rather surprising change of stance, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has denied any possibilities of signing new players in the January transfer window, reports Marca.

Perez was speaking following Real Madrid's Club World Cup win over Gremio and he reckons that the current squad is good enough to fight for the trophies and it is best not to disrupt the balance Zinedine Zidane has managed to instil at the club.

Perez said: “Everything can be improved but when things are working well, sometimes it’s best not to interfere. We have great players and a raft of young talent coming through. It’s now time to enjoy what we have.”

Marco Asensio seeking a possible exit

Asensio lacks consistency, claims Zidane

Real Madrid youngster Marco Asensio is frustrated with his current position at the club and is ready to pursue a fresh challenge amidst a strong interest from Manchester United, reports Don Balon.

Despite impressing everyone earlier in the season, Asensio's form has gone off the boil and manager Zinedine Zidane is beginning to lose his confidence in the 21-year-old star.

Zidane reckons that Asensio is not consistent enough to play regular football for Real Madrid. Manchester United, on the other hand, are patiently waiting for it to play out and have reportedly readied an offer in the region of £80-100 million.

United are also in talks with Los Blancos for a possible summer transfer for Gareth Bale and Matteo Kovacic, so we can expect these rumours to go on until next summer and like the previous instances, I wonder if we will see any successful deal between these two clubs.

Raphael Varane put on the transfer list

Perez accused of Betraying Varane's trust

Florentino Perez has received heavy criticism from the Spanish media over his decision to put Raphael Varane on the transfer list ahead of the next summer's transfer window.

Varane, 24, has managed to cement his place in the starting XI this season as he has already played 17 games for Zinedine Zidane.

However, Perez is not convinced by Varane's ability to last a complete season and has put a €60million asking fee on Varane's head which the club would look to invest in a more consistent option.

Manchester United have constantly monitored Varane's development for a number of years now, and if Real Madrid are indeed ready to negotiate a deal for the French defender, one can expect Jose Mourinho to jump in with an offer, having previously worked with the central defender.
