What's the story?

With each passing day, a new player is linked to the Los Blancos. Real Madrid, after being linked with Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe, are assessing another Paris-Saint Germain star. The player who just made a place for his name on the list is Adrien Rabiot.

Real Madrid are going to go all out in the summer and would welcome the chance to sign Rabiot on a free transfer, as the player's contract expires in the coming summer.

In case you did not know..

Adrien Rabiot has not featured in a single game for PSG in 2019 and has been relegated to training only as he looks to find a way out of the club. His last appearance for PSG came against Red Star Belgrade as he came on in the last minute of the game. The Frenchman has been exiled since he failed to reach an agreement over a contract extension.

The heart of the matter

As per reports coming out of Spain, the 23-year-old could be a surprise signing in the summer. The Frenchman is tired of the ill-treatment he is being subjected to and wants a move away.

The 23-year-old's mother, who is also his agent, has slammed the Parisian club on various occasions as she recently claimed that his son "is like a hostage" at the club and is being treated unfairly.

Rabiot was on Madrid's agenda last summer as a replacement for Kovacic, who left for Chelsea but Real Madrid were in the end content with their available options. The Frenchman was also heavily linked to Real Madrid's rivals, FC Barcelona. The deal with the Catalans seems to be off after they splashed the money on Frenkie de Jong and want to avoid the midfielder due to his exorbitant wage demands.

What's next?

Adrien Rabiot is an elegant midfielder who could succeed at the Spanish capital if he overcomes his disciplinary issues and works hard to climb his way back up. Zinedine Zidane's appointment to the helm at Bernabeu may see the Frenchman join in the summer as he looks to strengthen his aging midfield and add dynamism to his side.
