Real Madrid transfer news: Zidane planning double blow for Barcelona, Ronaldo vetos Cavani signing and more

Arsenal v Newcastle United - Premier League
Mesut Ozil is out of contract next summer

Real Madrid could re-sign Ozil next season

Real Madrid are open to the idea of signing Arsenal's want-away playmaker Mesut Ozil next season to make sure Barcelona do not sign the German star, reports Don Balon.

Ozil is attracting interest from all the major European sides including Barcelona and Manchester United, however, having already played for Real Madrid, Ozil could fancy a move back to The Bernabeu.

Don Balon claims Real Madrid will hold the first-option to sign Ozil and could begin talks as early as January 2018.

Ozil is yet to agree on any contract renewal with Arsenal which could see the German playmaker walk away for free next season.

Zidane planning to beat Barca for Werner

Chile v Germany: Final - FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017
Werner is already a German international

Zinedine Zidane wants to rub salt in Barcelona's wounds by signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in January to ruin the Catalan side's transfer plans.

The report comes from Don Balon who believe Barca are planning a £35million raid for Werner after missing out on the likes of Ceballos and Asensio earlier in the summer.

Barcelona want to take their revenge in January by signing Werner, however, Zinedine Zidane also wants the striker and could force his board to sign the player in January.

Ronaldo does not want Cavani at the club

Celtic v Paris Saint Germain - UEFA Champions League
Ronaldo wants to be Real Madrid's number 9

Edinson Cavani's proposed move to Real Madrid could be brought to an early halt as Cristiano Ronaldo does not want the Uruguayan striker at the club, according to Diario Gol.

Cavani's recent spat with Neymar at PSG had given Real Madrid a glimmer of hope of signing him in January. However, Ronaldo does not want to give up the number 9 role with Karim Benzema currently sidelined due to injury.

A similar story appeared last week with Ronaldo rejecting Robert Lewandowski's move to the Bernabeu for similar reasons. It looks like Cavani will stay at PSG until the end of this season.

Asensio not chasing Ballon d'Or glory

Real Sociedad v Real Madrid - La Liga
Asensio recently signed a new Real Madrid contract

Marco Asensio is thrilled to sign his new Real Madrid contract and receive praise from Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the young sensation has claimed that chasing Ballon d'Or glory is not one of his immediate goals.

Asensio said: "Receiving praise from Cristiano Ronaldo is a joy, but I don't think about winning the Ballon d'Or because I'm young and everything will happen when it happens."

"I can improve a lot, I have room to improve. I am young, I have to grow every year in many things."

The 21-year-old rejected interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG this summer to pen a new contract which reportedly has a massive release clause of €700million.
