What’s the rumour?

Adrien Rabiot’s future has been the topic of much speculation over the last few months but it seems like Liverpool or Barcelona could grab him in the summer – according to reports, which claim that Tottenham, who also have him on their radar, are worried that the Merseyside outfit or the Catalans could win the race to sign the 23-year-old.

In case you didn’t know…

The Frenchman was set to leave the Parisiens in the winter market but an unfortunate event blocked any chance of a move. Rabiot’s father passed away just a few days before the January window deadline and, as a result, his mother – who is also his agent – ceased all business activity as a sign of respect for the deceased.

The heart of the matter

As a result, the talks of his departure from France will only resume in the summer. By that time, however, he would become a free agent, meaning that the competition for him could be fierce.

Also, there seems to be no chance of Rabiot signing an extension with PSG as the club have repeatedly snubbed him due to his refusal to sign a new deal.

Rumour probability rating: 7/10

Since the midfielder isn’t signing a new deal with the French giants, it is almost certain that he is going to leave. And given Rabiot’s personality, Spurs don’t really have a chance to sign him, which means that either one of Liverpool or Barcelona could acquire his services.

What’s next?

The season is now in its second half and there are only a few months left before the curtains are drawn. After that, Rabiot will get busy negotiating with potential employers but in the meantime, he will have to be content with the lack of playing opportunities at PSG.
