What’s the rumour?

Wolves have recently surprised the football world quite a few times. They started it with the acquisition of one of Portugal’s best talent in Ruben Neves and that, too, at a time when they were in the second division.

And now, according to Mirror, Wolves are closing in on a deal to bring another superb Portuguese talent, Joao Felix.

In case you didn’t know…

The teenager has made waves across Europe with his displays this season. He has scored 7 goals and made three assists in 13 league games for Benfica and has caught the attention of clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Liverpool.

Heart of the matter

And now, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo wants the youngster in his team. Felix has a release clause of €120 million and Benfica would want it paid in full if they are to let him go. The advantage of Wolves is that they have the first refusal option on any client of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who is a representative of the youngster.

Rumour probability rating: 4/10

So here’s a summary of what the report claims: a player that is being courted by the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United would actually refuse to go there and chose Wolves. Just because Nunu Espirito’s side pulled off a deal to bring Ruben Neves doesn’t mean that they could do it once again.

What’s next?

Joao Felix has started his career with a bang and he is likely to gain more traction as the season progresses. However, he is still very young and raw, which is why he might be keen on staying with Benfica and improving himself as a player before making the leap abroad.
