What’s the story?

Cristiano Ronaldo in his latest interview lift the lid on how he has completely changed his style of play that complements his age.

Over the years, he has lost his fiery pace and now Ronaldo has acknowledged that it is harder to dribble past players now and even though he knows every trick in the book, sprinting past opponents now is much harder for him comparatively.

In case you didn’t know..

The former Real Madrid man was once regarded as one of the fastest players in the world but as age has caught up with him, he is no longer the pacy winger the world witnessed in his early Madrid and Manchester United days.

The heart of the matter

The Portuguese even at the age of 34 is still undeniably one of the best players in the world right now. However, he has lost some of the attributes that he possessed when he was in his 20s, which includes his lightning pace.

Cristiano Ronaldo, over the years, has made many changes to his approach towards games in recent years and is more of prolific goalscorer as the Portuguese admits he no longer walks onto the pitch wanting to dribble past everyone and in an interview to El Pais and said:

"Those moments when I went to the field thinking, 'I'm going to dribble,' if I'm honest, I don't have those moments anymore."
"There is an additional pressure. People are always judging: 'It's over already. He's 33, 34 or 35 years old, I should leave him.' And you want to surprise people."

Ronaldo admits he gets tired of proving himself again and again year after year.

"I will not deny that sometimes it annoys and tires me because it seems that every year you must prove that you are very good. It's hard."

What's next?

Even though Juventus were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the quarter finals, the five time Ballon d'Or winner had a successful season in the league and would hope to have a go at the UCL again with the Italian Champions next season.
