Second SAFF U16 championsip draw on Friday

Organizer All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) of the 2nd South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U16 Championship informed that the draw of the championship will be held on 19 July 2013, Friday. The championship will be held in league-cum-knockout format and the matches will be played at two venues — Dasharath Stadium, Tripureshwar in Kathmandu and Nepal Army ground in Lagankhel.

The 2nd SAFF U16 Championship features teams from seven countries in South Asia — host Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Afghanistan. Maldives pulled out of the championship. Bangladesh have already arrived in Kathmandu while other teams are scheduled to arrive at Kathmandu on Friday.

According to ANFA President and AFC Vice President Ganesh Thapa, the member associations of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) have taken the championship as part of preparations for the upcoming AFC U16 qualifiers scheduled for September.

The championship’s estimated budget is Rs. 7 million. SAFF has given US$50,000 to ANFA to host the championship.
