Seems unreal to be in Euro Cup squad: England's Rashford

Marseille, June 9 (IANS) England striker Marcus Rashford said on Thursday that he can hardly believe he is in the country's squad for the Euro Cup as it has been only four months since he made his Manchester United debut.

The 18-year-old sensation has netted eight goals for United so far and also scored one in his England debut in May.

"It doesn't seem real, when you look back at it," Rashford was quoted as saying by BBC.

"At Christmas I was trying to work my way into United's Under-21s side. To be here now is just amazing."

Rashford also said he had not even considered the possibility of getting into the England squad for the trip to France as he had a lot on his plate at the club level.

"I wasn't really thinking about the England set-up as much because at United there were a lot of games coming thick and fast so all of my focus was on those games," he said.

Rashford also revisited the time when he first entered the England dressing room saying the feeling was unreal.

"When I first went into the England changing room and saw all of the players' names on the back of their shirts, it didn't seem real," he said.

"I tried not to think about it too much because that's probably where the pressure and stuff starts to get to people's heads and affect their performance."

England will begin their campaign against Russia here on Saturday before matches against Wales on June 16 and Slovakia on June 20.
