Kunal Sachdeva leads the playmaker charts with 5 assists in 4 games

In this new weekly column, we look at some of the key players making a difference for their teams and impacting the league. Although football is a team game there are individual performers who always standout, whether it is scoring goals or putting fear into their opponents because of crunchy tackles. So read on to find out who all made it to the first list.

Fulgence Kouame (Phoenix FC)

The forward has clearly been the MVP for his team and is one of the leading candidates for Golden Boot. The forward from Cote D’ Ivorie has scored in every single game he has played and has scored 6 goals in 4 games. He possesses strength unlike any other forward in the league and coupled with his dribbling and shooting skills he oft becomes unplayable as was seen in his last outing against Sen Q. He is an all-round forward capable of playing anywhere in the front three.

Ritwick Dutta Jr. (Q Squad)

Ritwick is one of the brightest young talents in the league and the midfielder has had a large part to play in all of his team’s victories. His natural position is as a holding midfielder and because of that he is involved in all of his teams plays, be it defensive or attack. He has 4 goals in 4 games including two sublime free-kicks. Set piece situations are his forte while he also has a keen eye for a pass. His partnership with Varghese in midfield is one of the strongest in the league.

Kunal Sachdeva (Dwarka FC)

The lanky playmaker leads the way in assists and has 5 to his name in 4 games. His versatility allows him to play as a forward too and when needed he does slot in as a second striker. He has been instrumental to his side’s attacking plays and is currently his team’s MVP. His partnership with striker Nikhil Gahlot has been the deadliest of the league so far and is the main reason his team tops the standings after four gameweeks.

Rahul Gulia (Sen Q)

Rahul is probably the most versatile player in the whole league and can play in any position from defence to attack. His arsenal contains a variety of skills fro taking powerful shots to tackling. His versatility has allowed his team to feature him in multiple positions in the 4 games played so far, keeping in mind which opponent they are playing. Apart from doing the dirty work in midfield and defence he has also gotten himself on the score sheet.

Prince Anthony (Wishwakings)

A team’s outfield compatriots often overshadow goalkeepers but their job is the toughest on the pitch because a single error can change the whole game. Prince makes the list even though his team have not kept any clean sheets. He is a constant feature in the Top 5 Saves of the Week given his acrobatic saves. He possesses excellent reflexes while his sense of positioning is key. He can also distribute the ball well and will be a key component in Wishwakings rise to the top.
