Bangalore City FC are in incredible form having scored 35 goals and conceding none after 4 games.

Decathlon FC v Joga Bonito

Score: Decathlon FC (4) – (0) Joga Bonito

Scorers: Decathlon FC (Durga Prasad (OG) 29’, Abhay Joseph (OG) 32’, Vijoy Nair 36’, Benoit Le Bail 42’)

Decathlon FC are truly turning into a force to be reckoned with refusing to lose a game and their match against Joga Bonito was no different with Decathlon putting up a stellar performance ousting their opponents from the start of the whistle. Joga Bonito have not been able to find their footing yet and this match didn’t change much for them.

The first half saw slow play with neither team being able to get off the mark until the very end of the first half when Durga Prasad in an erroneous lapse put the ball into his own net sending his team into further despair.

The second half quickly turned disastrous for Joga when Abhay Joseph made a similar error deflecting the ball into his own net giving Decathlon a 2 goal lead without any of the scorers being from Decathlon. With the series of unforced errors, Joga looked to be distort and Decathlon were quick to take advantage with Vijoy Nair scoring a goal in the 32nd minute and 6 minutes later Benoit Le Bail showed his continued form adding another goal to the tally.

Decathlon are in a comfortable position on the table but the next few games will be crucial in determining whether they stay on top and get promoted or narrowly miss out on the same. Joga Bonito, on the other hand, need to be wary of being on the bottom of the table with the possibility of relegation looming over them.

Man of the Match: Michael George (Decathlon FC)

Engineers United v Oldman’s Park FC

Score: Engineers United (1) – (0) Oldman’s Park FC

Scorers: Engineers United (Raj Suman 21’)

The second match of the day saw Engineers United face off against a revitalised Oldman’s Park FC. Engineers United have been going through a downward slump with the team unable to perform up to their potential giving other teams the chance to avoid losing valuable points which could have rightfully belonged to the Engineers. Oldman’s Park had their own share of problems with the team being unable to find the spark that they required to play to the best of their abilities.

As mentioned above the first half saw a complacent Engineers United that were not making the most of their chances while Oldman’s Park gave it their all to hold off their opponents from scoring. Oldman’s attempts went in vain when Engineers captain Raj Suman opened the scoring in the 21st minute and the half ended in Engineers United’s favour. The second half was a subdued affair with neither team being able to convert any of their chances. Oldman’s missed a couple of important chances that could’ve seen the game all squared.

Whether Oldman’s overwhelmed Engineers or Engineers didn’t play to their potential is a matter of personal perspective but either way, both teams have to pull up their stockings and play their best because the other teams have all upped the ante and there is no room for complacency anymore.

Man of the Match: Raj Suman (Engineers United)

Amigos FC v Bangalore Kop

Score: Amigos FC (4) – (0) Bangalore Kop

Scorers: Amigos FC (Dinesh Maran 13’, Akhil Kesla 14’, 17’, Arvind Kumar 40’)

Amigos FC are on a roll picking up win after win after they came out of their losing spree. They are looking good as a team and teams need to be wary of them. Bangalore Kop also had a bad start to their campaign which put them on the bottom of the table but recent upgrades in the management of the team along with rigorous practice sessions are seeing this team make a slow yet steady ascension.

The match kicked off and Amigos wasted no time in getting on the offensive, dominating possession of the ball, they made maximum use of it creating many chances on goal. Their breakthrough came in the strangest fashion when mainstay Dinesh Maran curled one past the keeper off a corner kick in the 13th minute which opened the floodgates as Akhil Kesla scored two back to back goals in a span of 3 minutes making it 3-0 in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Bangalore Kop managed to hold Amigos to that score till the end of the first half. The second half saw a more composed Bangalore Kop adapting to their defensive errors and making stronger statements with the ball, unfortunately for them, they weren’t able to convert any of their chances with Amigos keeper Wilson being an absolute rock on the goal.

Arvind Kumar added to the tally in the 40th minute increasing the goal difference and putting the game to rest. Amigos will be looking to continue their winning form while Bangalore Kop still have a few quirks to work out but are overall on the right track with the right attitude.

Man of the Match: Akhil Kesla (Amigos FC)

Bangalore City FC v Phoenix FC

Score: Bangalore City FC (9) – (0) Phoenix FC

Scorers: Bangalore City FC (Alassane Kanadji 2’, 41’, 42’, 58’, Pritam Maiti 32’, Seye Kire 40’, Lassina Traore 49’, Somipam Chahum 53’, James Kapango 56’ )

Bangalore City FC are on a roll and as they say, ‘’rolling stones gather no moss”, so has the team absolutely steam rolled every opposition they have faced and are looking like favourites to take home the title. Phoenix FC have certainly seen their share of vicissitudes in the league so far but are yet to cement themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

The match started with BCFC breaking the deadlock in the 2nd minute thanks to excellent build up play by the team that saw star striker Alassane Kanadji in the perfect spot to finish with the goal. Phoenix FC much to their credit put up a commendable performance through the rest of the half negating the BCFC attack even without their captain spearheading the defence due to his injury.

The second half was quite the polar opposite and it went on to prove how important physical conditioning and substitutions are in the 11 aside game with BCFC outperforming a tired Phoenix FC. They managed to score a whopping 8 goals in the second half with Alassane completing his hat trick scoring 3 consecutive goals and Pritam Maiti, Seye Kire, Lassina Traore, Somipam Chahum and James Kapango all getting their names on the score list contributing to the unassailable goal difference and as a result of efficient team play at that.

Phoenix FC need to look at this match as a learning experience and rectify what went wrong in the second half in order to bounce back as a stronger side and BCFC need to stay level headed and not let the wins get the better of them with Sunday Boys being hot on their trail for the honor of pole position in the table.

Man of the Match: Alassane Kanadji (Bangalore City FC)

Sunday Boys v Bulllring AFC

Score: Sunday Boys (5) – (0) Bullring AFC

Scorers: Sunday Boys (Amal Shahid 12’, Prathap Chandan 23’, 27’, 30’, Gowri Shankar 40’)

Sunday Boys are the only other team apart from BCFC that are on a roll from the start of their campaign remaining undefeated, they are in second place on the table only because of goal difference but are not very far from bridging that gap with stellar performances week on week. Bullring AFC have just exited the dreaded bottom 3 after their win against Bangalore Kop last week and also put up a good fight against Sunday Boys for most of the game revealing their untapped potential.

The first half saw The Sunday Boys go about usual business as they pressed forward with repeated attacks waving the red flag against Bullring. Speedster Amal Shahid broke the dead lock in the 12th minute when he netted one past the keeper soon after which Prathap Chandan scored three back to back goals in a span of just 7 minutes to end the first half putting Bullring in a tizzy.

The second half saw a much more composed Bullring with Dominic Vijay controlling the defensive line the team seemed to be much more organised and kept better possession of the ball as opposed to the first half.

Gowri Shankar managed to score a goal in the 40th minute which remained the only goal scored in the half. Although Bullring lost the game by a fairly large margin their performance in the second half can be viewed as new found inspiration as they held their own against a top team. Sunday Boys, on the other hand, have no room for errors and they have to stay on top of things considering the neck to neck battle for first place they have going on against BCFC.

Man of the Match: Prathap Chandan (Sunday Boys)
