TAL Season 3 (Division 2): Gameweek 10 Review

Al-Fateh have bagged the title with a game to spare and become the first team to make the jump to Division 1 for next season

Al-Fateh swept home the title after a captivating attacking display, putting five past Diablos FC. They were handed the impetus to do so after Bengal dropped a crucial two points against Brunton earlier in what was a truncated day in the league. Titans picked up an important but narrow win over Netbusters FC to round off the action for the day.

Bengal hit a dead end on Brunton Road

FC Bengal fell short when it probably mattered the most as they were held to a goalless draw by FC Brunton. With defence cancelling out the attack at both ends, this turned out to be a well-matched game with few chances created.

Brunton should be a happy lot after this result whereas Bengal would be disappointed after fluffing the only shot they had at the title. They are however, primed to take second spot, which is no mean achievement in itself. With just one game to go, Brunton look to be heading for a 7th placed finish.

Score: FC Bengal 0-0 FC Brunton

Al-Fateh grab the title!

Al-Fateh routed a helpless Diablos FC side 5-0 to wrap up the title in style with still a game to score. Diablos FC would have come into this game with the belief that they could test their opposition while also keeping their hopes of promotion alive, but any such notions were quickly dispelled as Al-Fateh took the game by the scruff of its neck.

The attacking threat Al-Fateh posed was a bit too much for the Diablos defence to handle and score line indicates the level of the dominance exerted. Nihal Colaco raced to the top of the scoring charts with a hat-trick on the day and just like today, he has stood up and lead his team from the front in important games.

Score: Al-Fateh 5-0 Diablos FC

Titans sneak past Netbusters

Titans FC stayed in the hunt for promotion with a hard-fought victory over Netbusters FC. While many would have expected this to be a routine win for Titans, it was anything but as Netbusters turned in a good team effort. Had it been another season, they may have got something out of this game, but such has their form been this season, that the luck factor has deserted them.

They showed great spirit levelling things up within minutes of going down to a 6th-minute goal from Yash Hemdev; Nigil Jose the scorer for Netbusters. While they did hold on till the 48th minute, the quality in the Titans outfit eventually wrestled the fixture out of Netbusters’ grasp, Yeshwant Mekala scoring the eventual winner.

With Athlos United set to play Al-Fateh in the final week, Titans have the chance to make a back door entry to the promotion play-off spot.

Score: Titans FC 2-1 Netbusters FC
