What's the story?

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar's father has denied reports about his son being in contact with former club Barcelona for a possible move back to Camp Nou.

In case you didn't know...

Neymar is currently on the sidelines due to an injury he sustained in PSG's Coupe de France round of 16 match against Strasbourg.

The 27-year old Brazilian has scored 13 goals and provided 6 assists in the Ligue 1, whilst also scoring 5 goals and racking up 2 assists in the Champions League so far this season.

Barcelona signed the Brazilian from Santos back in 2013. Neymar, alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, formed one of the greatest attacking trios in the history of football.

His staggering spell at the Camp Nou saw him score 105 goals and 59 assists in all competitions over 4 seasons.

Neymar left Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 for a world record €222 million fee.

But multiple reports linked the superstar with a possible return to the Nou Camp, claiming that his father and the player himself has been in constant touch with the Barcelona hierarchy over a possible reunion at the Nou Camp in the future.

The heart of the matter

Neymar's father, who is also his agent, called such rumors and reports a lie, denying that his son is unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain.

When asked about Neymar's possible return to Camp Nou on an interview with Telefoot as quoted by Sport, his father said, “I have not had a single call with Barcelona, that’s false. Of course Barca are a great team. We were all happy there. And it’s evident that when you talk about transfers, Neymar’s name comes up. It’s impossible to leave a player like him out of the rumours.”
Neymar Sr added: “His future is in Paris, his present is in Paris. It’s hard to talk about the future because in football anything can change at any moment (but) besides the injury, he’s very happy in Paris.”

What's next?

Paris Saint-Germain will focus on defending their Ligue 1 crown, before hosting Manchester United in 2nd Leg of Champions League Round of 16 clash.
