The greatest part of every person's life is being recognized and rewarded for his good deeds. Football has evolved into a sport that does not only excite people, but also celebrates and rewards people for their great performances and contributions to the sport. Every year, FIFA organizes an award ceremony to honour and recognize the most outstanding players and coaches of the football year.

This year, FIFA has nominated ten male players of which three would be finally awarded as the best FIFA players. This award is given to recognize extraordinary performances by an individual player in a given calendar year. The winner is chosen by votes from national team captains, coaches, and registered football fans around the world. Here, we take a look at three players who deserve the FIFA Best Player award the most.

#3 Cristiano Ronaldo

Uruguay v Portugal: Round of 16 - 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia
Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo takes the number three spot on our list. His performances for his club side in the calendar year have been nothing short of exceptional. He scored a total of fifteen goals and provided three assists to help Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League.

He played a total of 1170 minutes, the highest of any player in the Champions League. He also made an average of 81.4% accurate passes. Domestically, Ronaldo may not have had the goal scoring rate he has been used to yet he made his mark, scoring 26 goals in La Liga and providing five assists.

In the Club World Cup, Ronaldo made his presence felt, scoring two goals to help his team win the competition. Though Ronaldo's national team never made it beyond the knockout stage of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Ronaldo excelled in his performances for his national team. He scored a total of four goals for Portugal. Ronaldo's strong performances for his club side, coupled with his impressive performances for Portugal should make him a strong contender for the FIFA Best Player award.

#2 Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe takes the number two spot as the second worthiest player to win the FIFA Best player award.

Mbappe is the youngest player of all the nominees of the award, but he is also among the strongest contenders for the ultimate award. Mbappe transferred on loan to PSG from Monaco and has been nothing short of scintillating.

In his maiden season at the club, he helped PSG win the domestic league and League Cup. He scored a total of 17 goals and made eight assists in both the domestic league and domestic cup to help PSG win both cups. Though PSG were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid, Mbappe made his mark with impressive performances. In the World Cup, Mbappe inspired the France national team to glory, scoring four goals in the campaign to the final.

In the final against Croatia, Mbappe scored a goal, becoming the first teenager since Pele to do so in the World Cup final. Mbappe's performances earned the best young player award at the World Cup. Even at a young age, Mbappe has shown a great potential and deserves to be nominated the FIFA Best Player.

#1 Luka Modric

Luka Modric takes the number one spot with his impressive performances for his national and club side.

Modric has proved beyond every reasonable doubt that he deserves, more than any player, to be nominated the FIFA Best Player award. His performances for his club side have been nothing short of exceptional. He starred in Real Madrid's midfield that conquered Europe last season, helping provide a total of 23 assists with his fellow players.

He also helped his club win the FIFA Club World Cup. But in his best tournament ever, Modric starred as Croatia's captain and playmaker, and led them to their first ever World Cup final appearance, scoring two goals and providing an assist on the way. Taking a Croatian side, that was average at best, to the World Cup final is no small feat, and shows Modric deserves to win the FIFA Best Player award.
