Hello and welcome to the Tottenham transfer roundup for the day. With the Premier League season coming to a close and Spurs once again falling short to the financial might of the Manchester clubs, it is of little wonder as to why Mauricio Pochettino asked the board to be a bit brave in the transfer market.

However, it seems as though Poch’s pleas could fall to deaf ears as once again, like yesterday, we just have two stories regarding Spurs today, which we shall reveal in just about a moment’s time.

Gareth Bale rumours are back

Ever since joining Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur, Gareth Bale hasn’t been able to replicate the heights of his Spurs career. Even though he started off with a blast, scoring the winning goals against Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the finals of the Copa del Rey and Champions League, he could never really fulfil the reason for which he was bought in the first place: to be an apt replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

As a result, he has been linked with a move out of the club - and this season, the rumours have been more vehement than ever before. According to Daily Star, who quote Spanish media without naming any specific outlet, Gareth Bale could return to Tottenham Hotspur for a deal worth only £43.7 million – half of what they sold him for in the first place.

Barrios to Spurs

The second story of the day features Mauricio Pochettino looking at Argentina – his motherland – once again to bring in a fantastic talent in the mould of Wilmar Barrios. The Sun state that the youngster, who plays for Boca, is on Poch’s wishlist and plans to watch him at the World Cup this year.

Barrios is a Colombian defensive midfielder by trait and could be the right man to shield Spurs’ backline – especially if Mousa Dembele is sold. Pochettino has already seen him and could make a move for him worth £25 million.
