Just about a month and a half ago, the charismatic World Cup winner who has proven to be quite a divisive figure in the world of football, looked certain to swap Old Trafford for greener pastures as his miserable spell under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho looked set to continue.

Subsequently, Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho and in came club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the caretaker manager. Under Solskjaer, there has been a significant upliftment in the mood around Old Trafford and the team has looked more positive and threatening over the last month.

As a result, now Paul Pogba is ready to consider a long-term future at Manchester United. As per The Sun, the midfielder who had earlier tried to force a move to Barcelona is now willing to sit down and sign a contract if the club is ready to offer him more than £290,000 a week.

He would want to be offered a package somewhere close to Alexis Sanchez whose rumoured wage rate stands close to £500,000 a week. As per the report, an Old Trafford source claims,

“Pogba's agent is ready to end the problems he has had with the club over the last few months.
“He wasn't over much towards the end of last year. There was a big breakdown of relationships while Mourinho was in charge.
“Raiola wants to talk about his clients ongoing future when all the January business is concluded, which won't be too much.
“There were talks over whether he would go, but there is no chance of that. He looks like he's the happiest he has been in a long time.”

Inter Milan captain and striker Mauro Icardi is yet to be offered a new deal by the club. This has been revealed by the Argentine's wife Wanda in Italian TV show Tiki Taka (report courtesy: The Sun).

Chelsea are desperately looking for a striker who they can depend on for the long-term. Alvaro Morata's impending departure to Atletico Madrid has raised further question marks about Chelsea's stance on signing a new striker.

Wanda Nara, Icardi's wife revealed,

"When the management at the club contact me, I'll respond to their request.
"Until now nobody from Inter has called me to further the negotiations. My telephone is always on and I answer every call I receive."

This comes as a major boost to Chelsea who have been keeping tabs on the 25-year-old.

According to Don Balon, Chelsea are resigned to losing Eden Hazard at the end of the ongoing season and are already preparing for life after the departure of the Belgian. They have tabled a £101 million bid for former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho who has endured a tough 2018-19 campaign so far.

Coutinho was one of Premier League's finest players during his later years at Anfield and arrived at the Camp Nou amid huge fanfare. After enjoying a good start, his form deteriorated and his recent performances have evoked much ire from the Barcelona faithful.

A role in Sarri's system could be tailor-made for the Brazilian who has been struggling in Valverde's system of late falling below both Ousmane Dembele and Arturo Vidal in the pecking order.
