It was not just about losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace, but it was more about being relegated from the English Premier League. With Southampton and Burnley both pulling clear from the relegation zone, Huddersfield who have been rooted at the bottom of the table have been sent back into the Championship.

After 32 games, the Terriers have only three wins and 14 points. Two of their victories came against Wolves and another against Fulham last year. They have scored the fewest goals in the competition, with only 18 goals.

David Wagner was sacked in January 2019 after taking over the club since 2015 and seeing them get promoted to the EPL. It has been a miserable season for the club who simply cannot find a way past the rest of their opponents.

Fulham, who are second from the bottom, are no better. They have just 19 points and have conceded 72 goals thus far. It is a record number of goals conceded in the Premier League since no team had let in more than 60 goals in history.

Burnley's surprise victory over Wolves and Southampton's victory over Brighton and Hove Albion meant that it was mathematically impossible for the Terriers to leave the relegation zone. Nothing much has changed since sacking Wagner, the club had dropped far too deep behind the rest.

Promoted at the end of 2017, Huddersfield barely survived relegation the following season by finishing 16th in the table. This season, they were not that lucky. It seems like the squad is not well prepared to compete in the EPL, thus resulting in their poor performances in the last two seasons. It's time to say goodbye to Huddersfield and hopefully, they will make a return to the top-tier of English football soon. Here was how fans reacted to the news.
