Jose Mourinho could soon be back into management if reports making the rounds are anything to go by. The Portuguese lost his job as Manchester United manager on Tuesday following a poor start to the season.

The Red Devils lacked direction under the 55-year-old and last Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool appears to have fast-tracked his Old Trafford exit. Mourinho leaves Man United after two-and-half years, in which he guided the club to the Europa League and the EFL Cup.

But according to a report by the Independent, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is interested in bringing the former Chelsea boss back to the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos are currently being managed by former player Santiago Solari, but it is believed that the club’s hierarchy view Mourinho as the perfect man to lead an overhaul.

In a statement following his Man United sack, Mourinho indicated that he is undecided on when to return to football.

The Portuguese said:

“I have been immensely proud to wear the badge of Manchester United since the first day I arrived, and I believe all United supporters recognise this. Just as was the case with my previous clubs, I have worked with some wonderful people and I believe that some will be my friends for life.
“I know that you are all aware of my professional principles. Each time a chapter is closed I show my deepest respect and I don’t make any comments about my former colleagues.
“I hope the media will also respect my position and let me live my normal life until the moment I decide to return to football. Merry Christmas.”

However, with reports linking him with a return to La Liga and Real Madrid, the world of Twitter has erupted with various opinions from football fans.
