Borussia Dortmund scored twice in injury time to claim a berth in this season’s Champions League Semi-Final. It is quite rare for the same team to score two crucial goals in the dying seconds of the game when the stakes are high and the pressure is mounting. But let’s see where Jurgen Klopp’s men rank in the list of teams who have scored two important stoppage time goals to earn their team vital results and a place in our ‘Hall of Fame’.
5) Everton 3-3 Manchester United (11th Sept, 2010)
Everton had taken the lead through Steven Pienaar, but Manchester United went into the break on level terms through Darren Fletcher. Nemanja Vidic and Dimitar Berbatov had given United a two goal cushion 20 mins into the second half. Although the visitors missed numerous chances to put the game to bed little did anyone expect an Everton result as the fourth official raised the board signaling 3 minutes of stoppage-time.
Tim Cahill headed in a Baines cross from the left in the 91st minute to bring the Toffees back into the game and the Australian headed another cross from the left back into the path of Mikel Arteta whose drive took a deflection off Scholes and arrowed into the bottom corner and made the Goodison faithful erupt with joy.
4) France 2-1 England (13th June, 2004)
Euro 2004 had England’s “Golden Generation” at their peak and they had nearly secured the 3 points against rivals France in Group B as the clock ticked past 90. Frank Lampard had given England the lead when he headed home a David Beckham free-kick. Beckham then had a penalty saved by Fabian Barthez in the second half after Wayne Rooney was fouled inside the box.
Into stoppage time, substitute Emile Heskey gave away a needless foul just outside the box and Zidane curled the ball past a hapless David James to bring France level. A minute later, Gerrard attempted a dangerous back pass to James. Henry intercepted the loose ball and was brought down by the goalkeeper and France were awarded a penalty, which Zidane nonchalantly converted to give France a late win.

3) Dortmund 3-2 Malaga (9th April, 2013)
The first leg of the Quarter Final of the Champions League ended goal-less in Spain. Malaga needed a score draw in Germany and were on course to a place in the Semi-Final when Eliseu gave them a 2-1 lead in the 82ndminute. Dortmund needed a minor miracle to go though as the game entered stoppage time.
But their never say die attitude finally paid off as Marco Reus and Felipe Santana scored two goals (albeit one being offside) in two injury time minutes to send Dortmund through to the semi-final.
Jurgen Klopp after the match: “This is one face of football – one very disappointed team in this moment and one lucky team – it was unbelievable.”
2) Manchester City 3-2 QPR (13th May, 2012)
The last day of the 2011-12 season and both the Manchester clubs were level on points. Manchester City knew a win would crown them as Champions for the first time in 44 years as they were well ahead on goal difference. A goal from Pablo Zabaletta gave Manchester City the lead in the first half but 10 men QPR fought back and took the lead early in the second half.
As Edin Dzeko scored in the second minute of added time, the game at the Stadium of light had ended 1-0 and Manchester United were Champions for 10 seconds as things stood, but Sergio Aguero had other ideas and scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to break the hearts of the red half of Manchester and City were crowned Champions.

1) Manchester United 2-1 Bayern Munich (26th May, 1999)
Manchester United were one game away from winning the historic treble but a strong Bayern Munich side stood in their path in the Champions League Final.
The Germans drew first blood in the final when Mario Basler scored from a free-kick early in the first half and looked the better side for most of the game but as the game entered stoppage time…
Commentator: “Can Manchester United score, they always score!”
Ryan Giggs’ tame right foot shot was bundled home by substitute Teddy Sheringham to draw United level and in the 93rd min …
“Beckham into Sheringham, and Solskjaer has won it!” History was created as the two substitutes scored two goals in stoppage time to win Fergie his first Champions League.
Everton 2-1 Tottenham (9th Dec, 2012) narrowly misses out our list by 6 seconds as Pienaar scored Everton’s first goal on 89.54 minutes. Jelavic scored the winner in the second minute of stoppage-time.
