Manchester United have made contact with Valencia youngster, Fran Villalba, confirms agent

Fran Villalba could join Manchester United's midfield soon

Manchester United have apparently made contact with Valencia starlet’s agent, Vicente Fores, over a possible transfer, according to the agent himself.

The Red Devils spent a lot of money during the summer transfer window over the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and, of course, the most expensive player in the world, Paul Pogba. However, the results haven’t been as what was expected with these new additions.

And it seems like Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho will make further signings in an attempt to get the best out of his already-established star players.

"With me [contact has been made]. Just a contact to know his situation. They’re already aware," Fores told Sport Witness.

He also further stated that the player’s current club, Valencia, would make it as hard as possible for the youngster to leave Mestalla.

"I don’t know about Valencia. But I reckon they will make it hard. We've just started talking. It’s up to United."

The youngster is a midfielder who has represented Spain on many youth levels and is worth about €3.6 million. Even though Manchester United have many central midfielders, they perhaps lack someone of his mould.

Fran Villalba is the type of midfield general that Xavi was; a fine passer of the ball who could set the tempo of the game from the centre of the park. Unlike Pogba, however, he is not a flashy eye-catching player. Rather, he goes on about quietly doing his job but plays a jaw-dropping pass every now and then to amaze fans.

Paul Pogba, ever since joining the Red Devils, has been out of touch. The flamboyant moves coupled with Hollywood passes are rarely seen these days. It seems as though he is missing the right partner—the Andrea Pirlo or Arturo Vidal—to operate at his best.

Hence, despite having the highly talented Frenchman and, of course, Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the team, and the self-proclaimed former Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, managing them, the Old Trafford outfit haven’t been as convincing as many experts predicted in the beginning.

The former Inter boss faces United’s free-scoring bitter rivals, Liverpool, in their next game. It would be an interesting battle of wits between the Portuguese and the former Borussia Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp. Both of them would love to get one over their rival and earn the spoils of victory for themselves.
