London, Nov 18 (IANS/CMC) Bermudian footballer Nahki Wells completed a hat-trick for Bradford City but the Bantams had to be satisfied with a point against Coventry in a thrilling League One match at Valley Parade that ended 3-3.

Wells, 23, earned the last-gasp draw when he fired home a penalty in the fifth minute of injury time to take his goal tally for the season to 12. It was the first time the Bermuda international had hit the target in two months since his brace earned Bradford a 2-2 draw against Colchester Sep 14.

An ankle injury sustained against Shrewsbury at the end of September forced Wells out of action for a month. But he was in sparking form Sunday, only being denied another goal when he rattled the bar with a free-kick in the 55th minute.

Coventry stunned the home fans when they took a 2-0 lead inside seven minutes through Andy Webster’s deflected half-volley and Leon Clarke’s rebound. But Wells cancelled out the deficit with close-range goals in the 17th and 28th minutes.

Coventry regained the lead (42nd minute) through Callum Wilson, who scored from a tight angle, and appeared set to take all three points until Wells stepped up to convert the penalty awarded by referee Kevin Friend after Jordan Clarke handled in the area.

The draw leaves the Bantams, who last recorded a league win Oct 5, in seventh spot, two points outside the play-off places.

Wells’ 26 goals last season helped Bradford earn promotion from League Two.
