West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski provides injury update as he recovers from a hip surgery

West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has provided an injury update as he continues to work his way back to full fitness after undergoing surgery to repair a torn hip muscle.

Fabianski says he will not be rushing to first-team action after rehabilitation

The former Arsenal shot-stopper has been sidelined since he picked up a hip injury during the Hammers' 2-2 Premier League draw against Bournemouth in September.

The 34-year-old has since undergone a procedure to repair his hip muscle and is currently in the process of rehabilitation.

The Poland international has been a regular presence in Manuel Pellegrini's squad, who are currently languishing at 16th place in the Premier League. The Hammers are without a win in seven games in all competitions and will hope to break the unwanted streak when they return to league action this weekend.

Fabianksi, who arrived from Swansea City in the summer of 2018, has now provided fans with an update concerning his injury, stating that while he is recovering well, he will not be rushing to play anytime soon.

Speaking to the official West Ham website, he said,

"I think I'm getting better and I'm doing more things, so hopefully it will continue like that and it will be successful."

"The biggest mistake in my case would be to try to rush things because there would be a big chance of it happening again so, with injuries like that, you have to be really careful about it.

"I don't want to rush. I just want to take my time and make sure I come back in the right way, not only physically but from the goalkeeping point of view which is important."

West Ham will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they face Tottenham Hotspur in what would be Jose Mourinho's debut as their manager.
