The English Premier League is growing in popularity by the day. Compared to other leagues, we can all admit that the EPL has transformed. Maybe the Premier League is overrated? NO! Premier League football has changed and for the better.

Let us have a look at some of the reasons why the Premier League is better than other top European leagues.

The fans

It's evident that Premier League fans are unbelievable. What is so special about the fans? Well, an EPL match is so much different compared to other games played elsewhere abroad.

Fans in the Premier League are just amazing. They hardly give up, even when their team is losing. Supporters will rally behind their team for a whole 90 minutes, chanting names of all players on the football pitch. This level of passion from the fans is rare different compared to other leagues in Spain or Italy.

The Premier League is home to many fans across the world today, but that does not rule out other leagues abroad. For instance, teams like AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus have got passionate fans too.

However, rarely do you see stadiums being full for almost every other match in other top divisions of the world. Only the Bundesliga comes close to the Premier League in this regard.

Goals

The English Premier League has produced some of the GREATEST goals in world football. If you follow this fantastic league closely, then you must have seen some tremendous goals. Examples of some of the incredible goals scored in this league include Olivier Giroud’s incredible scorpion kick against Crystal Palace and Wayne Rooney’s overhead kick in a Manchester derby among others.

It's just not about the quality of these goals but also the quantity of them. Every year, you would see a plethora of chartbusters being talked about, week in and week out.

Yes, Lionel Messi does score those beautiful free-kicks in LaLiga. Nevertheless, the kind of goals scored from open play in the Premier League will never be matched anywhere else in the world today. The excitement that comes along with Premier League goals is what makes this league special.

Local derbies

In England, there are a lot of local rivalries; which brings entertainment. The fans, the hatred, the intensity and the fierce competition between teams has brought tons of excitement. Derbies are memorable, to be honest. Some of the epic matches regarded as derbies include Manchester United vs. Manchester City, Chelsea vs. Arsenal, Arsenal vs. Tottenham, and others.

Derbies not only exist in the United Kingdom, but in other leagues as well. For example in Italy, we have Derby della Madonnina; between Inter Milan and AC Milan which is regarded as one of the most entertaining matches in world football. In Spain, we have the Madrid derby between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

The reason behind the success of the English Premier League is the level of competition. In this case, derbies are awesome and entertaining to fans. Unlike other leagues, the popularity of even a small derby such as the Tyneside derby between former Premier League team Sunderland and Newcastle United has had massive fanfare and hype surrounding it. In other words, derbies attract lots of views and excitement; this is what separates this EPL from other leagues.

Final thoughts

The level of entertainment in the Premier League brings joy among football fans all over the world. Nowadays, everyone is noticing the amount of talent available in England.

Besides, even the lower ranked teams are in a position to attract quality players and managers from foreign leagues. We all saw what happened with Leicester City two seasons ago when they won the Premier League.

In England, we are witnessing a change in approach to matches. Teams are implementing modern day football systems; where not only does the team defend well, but possesses an attacking quality upfront.
