Why Sadio Mané is as important as Mohamed Salah for Liverpool

Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah play as wingers for Liverpool and have made a big contribution since joining. Sadio Mané joined Liverpool on 28 June 2016 for a big transfer fee of £34 million, from Southampton. So far, the Senegalese forward has scored 42 goals in 100 matches for Liverpool and wears the famous number 10 jersey, previously worn by Philippe Coutinho.

On the other hand, Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool on 22 June 2017 for an initial transfer fee of £36.9 million, from AS Roma. He became an instant hit and finished the season with an astonishing 32 goals, in 38 league games. In his debut season for Liverpool, he also won the Premier League's player of the month award 3 times and Liverpool's player of the month award 7 times.

After beating Manchester City in the quarterfinals and Roma in the semis, Liverpool faced Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League final. Real Madrid won the title and Salah picked up a shoulder injury, owing to a rash tackle by Sergio Ramos. After winning the title, Sergio Ramos faced a lot of flak, as a lot of people said that it was a deliberate tackle to injure Salah. Even after the loss, Mohamed Salah got all the limelight. It's not that he didn't deserve it. He is a true champion and should get all the credit. It's just that in the meantime, the brilliance of Sadio Mané did get overlooked. It was him who scored the equalizer for Liverpool in the 2018 Champions league final and gave them a hope to win their 6th title, but it got shattered by mistakes from former keeper, Loris Karius.

Mohamed Salah hadn't started the 2018-19 season well as he had only scored three goals in eight Premier League games. Sadio Mane stepped up and scored four goals in eight Premier League games, helping Liverpool to start with consecutive wins. In a press conference, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed him as, an outstanding offensive player. In the 2017-18 Champions League campaign, he netted ten goals in thirteen games whereas, Mohamed Salah bagged eleven goals in fifteen matches. He finished the 2017-18 Premier League season with ten goals and seven assists in twenty-nine games.

So, Sadio Mané has done a great job for Liverpool, since he arrived, and should be given fair credit for his brilliant performances so far.
