Why do Fortnite players complain about the Cronus Zen?

It all began with a popular pro player named Reet, who suddenly started winning competitive tournaments. He stomped on the biggest names in the community like Bugha with ease, and viewers were naturally shocked by his unprecedented rise in the pro scene.

Upon extensive research, YouTuber Exalted discovered that Reet started using Cronus Zen right before his mind-boggling performances in Dream Hack and the FNCS Qualifiers. He didn't have exceptional game sense or piece control, but seemed unbeleivably good in aiming.

As it turns out, the Cronus Zen helps in improving aim, increasing aim assist, and reducing recoil. Players first plug their controller into the device, allowing them to access thousands of scripts that allow them to modify their controller.

In addition to that, the Cronus Zen used to be undetectable. The anti-cheats considered it to be a standard controller and a ton of pros and streamers comfortably used it. So much so that the majority of casual players were willing to shift to controllers as they appeared to be overpowered.

This explains why controller players dominated in online tournaments but performed equally badly during the LAN tournaments. It is easy to hide a Cronus Zen on stream, but it is impossible to use it in a LAN tournament.

Are Cronus Zens bannable in Fortnite?

In August 2021, well-renowned pro player Liquid Scoped posted on Twitter that Cronus Zens are now bannable. Apparently, the updated anti-cheat softwares are able to detect the controller emulator.

Interestingly, the Cronus Zen is used to play other multiplayer games like Warzone as well, and it is considered a method of cheating. Hence, it isn't a surprise that Fortnite is treading the same path and is banning anyone who uses Zen.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, LAN tournaments became a rare possibility and using devices like Cronus Zens was easier than ever. As a result, it is hard to judge the actual skills of controller players in the competitive scene.

There haven't been any cases of players getting banned for using Zen so far. Despite the claims, it seems like the Easy Anti-Cheat cannot detect it.

Having said that, loopers should use the Cronus Zen at their own risk. Using third-party software/scripts to improve your aim will never be acceptable in Fortnite, and is undoubtedly a bannable offense.
