5 underrated players in Vivo IPL patch for EA Cricket 07

EA Cricket 07 brings back old memories for most youngsters and it remains a fun game even after a decade of its release. It is one the most realistic cricket games around and is still played by many, albeit with mods and third party patches.

Cricket 07 came with various modes and already had the NatWest T20 as a part of the game. The emergence of IPL obviously meant a new patch was needed for the game and Vivo IPL 9 is the latest patch based on the tournament. The patch installs new rosters, in-game menu, facial graphics and IPL teams to EA Cricket 07, allowing the user to play IPL mode in the game with their favourite team and players.

Nevertheless, which are the best players in the game? Or are there any others who deserve better? Let’s look at five IPL players who have excelled on the pitch and deserve a better rating in Vivo IPL patch for Cricket 07.

#5 Corey Anderson (80)

Corey Anderson is a batting all-rounder for New Zealand and Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. He shot to fame by scoring the fastest century in ODI cricket in 36 balls against Zimbabwe in 2014, breaking the 17-year record of Shahid Afridi who had achieved the same feat in 37 balls. The Kiwi has scored 509 runs in 24 IPL matches at an average of 31.81.

In the game, Anderson has a batting skill rating of 80 while his bowling accuracy rating is 84. These ratings aren’t bad, but for the performance by Corey Anderson in real life cricket, they seem low. The game rates Anderson’s back foot shots at 80, the area being his weakest in batting attributes. While in the bowling department Anderson’s lowest rating is 79 for his seam bowling.

Anderson has no batting weaknesses and in fact, excels in all batting strengths available in Cricket 07. Keeping this in mind, and looking at his performance in IPL and international cricket, it is surprising his batting skill rating is a mere 80.

#4 David Warner (86)

The Australian surprised many when he was selected for the national team without any experience in first-class cricket. David Warner went on to score a stunning 89 off 43 in his debut T20I match against South Africa, making a smashing entry in international cricket.

Warner is known as an aggressive batsman and opens for Australia in all three formats. He is ranked seventh in ICC’s Test rankings and second in ODI rankings. He has been part of the IPL since 2009 and has scored 3908 runs in 112 matches, at an average run rate of 39.87.

Warner’s IPL statistics are better than Virat Kohli, who has 100 rating for all batting attributes in the game, and yet the Australian has a rating of only 86 for his batting skill.

#3 Amit Mishra (84)

Amit Mishra was dropped from Indian Squad owing to Bhajji and Kumble’s presence

Amit Mishra is a right arm leg break bowler and is the only bowler to have taken three hat-tricks in the IPL. His performances in IPL have been more remarkable than international cricket owing to the availability of a position in the squad.

The leg-spinner has played all ten seasons of the IPL, taking 133 wickets in 123 matches. Mishra has a rating of 84 for bowling accuracy in the game and a rating of 86 for spin bowling. A leg break bowler tricks the batsman with his length and pace, but Cricket 07 doesn’t give Mishra the special skill of ‘Trickster’ in the game.

#2 Sanju Samson (84)

Sanju Samson is one the youngest cricketers to play first-class cricket in India. The wicketkeeper-batsman is the youngest to score 1000 runs in the IPL and was also adjudged as the ‘Best Young Player of the Season’ in the 2013 IPL.

Samson has a rating of 84 for batting skill in the game. His defence, offside and legside are the weak areas of his batting attributes which have ratings less than 80.

He has no batting weaknesses and has all the special batting skills available in the game but still, he has a skill rating of only 84. One explanation could be his young age and inexperience, but the developers will need to make the changes in ratings soon.

#1 Imran Tahir (86)

Born in Pakistan, Imran Tahir has a fascinating story to tell about his journey into international cricket from the South African side. He played for 25 different teams before finally establishing himself as the number one bowler in ODI and T20I bowler in the ICC bowler rankings.

Tahir has been amazing with the ball and has been on top of ICC ODI bowler’s rankings since 2015. Despite such achievements, he has a rating of merely 86 for bowling accuracy in the game. Tahir is known for his making the ‘googly’ his weapon in limited-over matches, but Vivo IPL 9 has a different story to tell where his lowest rating is 84 for ‘googly’ itself.

The game does not have any special bowling skills for the world no 1 bowler, which is surprising. Imran Tahir has taken 47 wickets in 32 IPL matches. His performance in IPL 2017 has been remarkable and we can agree that he deserves a better rating than 86.
