Cortana to be resurrected in Halo 5: Guardians

Cortana’s popularity goes beyond the Halo series

Halo Nation should prepare to rejoice as Cortana, one of the Halo series’ most popular characters, is set to return from the dead in the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians. The delightful news was confirmed by Mike Colter, who plays Agent Locke in Guardians, during a recent interview with IGN.

Colter also shed some light on his character and stated that Agent Locke, who will be a super soldier in the new game, will be heavily involved in the events of Guardians while also mentioning that fan favourites Master Chief and Cortana will also have a role to play. Cortana’s inclusion in Halo 5: Guardians will naturally come as a shock to many as she clearly perished in Halo 4. However it shouldn’t be forgotten that she’s an AI, so a resurrection seems highly possible.

Gamespot contacted Microsoft for more details on Cortana’s resurrection, however the company declined to comment leaving the method of her resurrection up in the air for now. Cortana’s popularity goes beyond the Halo franchise, so much so that Microsoft named their intelligent personal assistant that’s present in many of their Windows products after her. Perhaps Halo developer 343 Industries decided that her resurrection would increase the anticipation of Guardians.

The only thing left to do now is to wait and watch how Cortana comes back to life when Halo 5: Guardians releases in the later half of the year.
