5 players who were left unhappy with their FIFA 18 rating

The EA Sports FIFA ratings can be brutal. They tend to showcase the best and the worst sides of football and, more often than not, come at the price of a current player. FIFA 18 was no different. While there are bound to be some solemn faces following the monumental ratings reveal, this year felt backlash like never before, even making several top stars hit out on social media over their gross mistreatment in the form of a FIFA 18 player card.

The ratings this year have been fairly interesting and though the usual suspects have reigned supreme, it's slightly down the ladder where a few disappointed faces arise. Clearly, not everyone can achieve a 94 rating like Cristiano Ronaldo, but these players definitely felt that they deserved a bit more for their efforts and were far from adequately represented in this year's annual extravaganza. So without further ado, here are 5 players who were left red-faced with their FIFA 18 rating:

#5 Benjamin Mendy - 78

Benjamin Mendy's FUT 18 stats make for some sorry reading. For all his hard work last season at Monaco, the Frenchman was rated just 78 in FIFA 18 and our sympathies lie with him for that very reason. His 82 pace seems paltry when you consider his intense work rate along the left flank and his physical stats could do with some upgrades as well. The Man City fullback wasn't afraid to let his feelings be known either, and he took to social media in order to vent his frustration over seemingly poor numbers.

That's right, folks at EA Sports. Get yourselves a television.

#4 Dele Alli - 84

Dele Alli's FUT 18 rating of 84 seems reasonable and fair when you consider his rapid rise to stardom owing to some brilliant performances in a Spurs shirt. His 82 dribbling and 80 shooting powers him to the mid-80s mark and perhaps rightly so. That didn't stop the Englishman from demanding more from the makers of FIFA however as he demanded a rating of at least 85 from the developers. Sorry mate, not happening. You can watch Alli's banter with EA Sports here in the ratings reveal video:

Ask and you shall receive? Not quite I'm afraid. Alli may have to prove himself worthy of a rating upgrade through sheer hard work rather than his weak demanding skills.

#3 David Luiz - 86

David Luiz received a ratings upgrade this year in FIFA 18 by jumping up to 86 in the ratings reveal. The Brazilian was vital to the Chelsea cause as the Blues raced to yet another Premier League triumph. His FIFA 18 rating, however, didn't go down too well with the charismatic center half.

In a lighthearted interview with fellow center back Rio Ferdinand, Luiz can be seen complaining about his 86 rating in comparison with buddy Eden Hazard's much better 90 rating. Hazard was, in fact, the highest rated player from the Premier League, and Luiz clearly doesn't seem to agree that he deserves to be so low down the pecking order. Watch the hilarious exchange below:

Rio more than got what he bargained for here. And we absolutely love every second of it.

#2 Mats Hummels - 88

Mats Hummels isn't a player you would associate with being a 5-star baller or full of every bit of trickery in the book. However, in a bit of fun-filled banter, the German can be seen complaining about his dribbling stats to EA Sports representatives in the promotional video for the FIFA 18 ratings reveal.

Hummels' rating of 88 lists him as one of the best defenders in the game but the Bayern man clearly expected better attributes when it came to dribbling. All we can say is, hard luck friend. Maybe next year. Or the year after that. Dribbling really isn't his strong suit, is it?

#1 Michy Batshuayi - 80

Here's one player that seemed legitimately angry with his numbers in FIFA 18. Chelsea's Michy Batshuayi may have scored the Premier League winning goal for the Blues last year but his performances were erratic, to say the least. His 80 rating in FIFA 18 seems fairly reasonable when you take that into consideration but the Belgian clearly wasn't having any of it.

Seemingly unhappy with his rating, the striker shared a gif of himself shaking his head while holding his FIFA 18 player card. A shake of disapproval? To say the very least. Perhaps his performances this season can show the game developers why rating him just 80 was a big mistake. "PLEASE EXPLAIN" guys.
