Man City's Benjamin Mendy questions EA again after they get his FIFA 18 face wrong

Juventus v AS Monaco - UEFA Champions League Semi Final: Second Leg
Mendy (R) joined Manchester City this summer

What's the story?

Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy recently trolled EA Sports for giving him a low rating on FIFA 18 after his player avatar was given rated 78. While he seems to have calmed down a little over the issue, another problem presented itself to him. He had noticed that his player avatar largely resembles former player Emile Heskey, of Leicester City and Liverpool fame.

Below is the tweet in question.

In case you didn't know

Mendy is well known for his social media presence and is unofficially dubbed the 'King of Twitter'. Earlier this week, Manchester City trounced Watford 6-0. While the bulk of the goals were credited to Sergio Aguero, fullback Mendy and the rest of the midfield were heavily involved. This was Manchester City's third victory in a row after wins against Feyenoord and Liverpool. Unable to resist another jab at EA, Mendy sent out another tweet of himself celebrating with his teammates. Below is the aforementioned tweet.

The heart of the matter

The Frenchman seems to have a love-hate relationship with EA, particularly after the overall rating stunt. Since then, Mendy has been relentless in his trolling of the video game giant. He is not the only player to be unhappy with his rating as Dele Alli and Michy Batshuayi have also been rather peeved at the ratings issue.

What's next?

Manchester City will be facing West Brom next on Thursday 21st September and Mendy will no doubt use this as an opportunity to try and convince EA to increase his rating. Whether they will hear him out is a mystery.

Author's take

On the face of it, giving a 78 rating to a player of Mendy's calibre seems a little harsh but EA must have had their reasons. They have responded to some of the players' complaints and have told them that they could get an upgrade in FIFA 19 if their game improves, Plus, there is an added bonus of being featured in the Team of the Month as well.
