With breaking news coming in from Stamford Bridge stating that Olivier Giroud is now a Chelsea player, we wanted to examine the Frenchman's statistics a little further to see just how he would fit into life in London with special emphasis on his FIFA 18 rating and position.

The striker has moved to the Blues in what is estimated to be an £18 million switch from former club Arsenal. The whirlwind deal involves three clubs with Michy Batshuayi moving to Borussia Dortmund, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal, and Olivier Giroud to Chelsea. Truly fascinating. What is fascinating for FUT fans, however, is what Giroud brings to the table at his new club.

A proven goalscorer at his best, Giroud is rated just 82 currently following erratic spells of play under Arsene Wenger. He hasn't featured much at all this season with a few appearances from the bench being the highlight for the forward.

However, with this move we could expect him to jump one number to 83, especially since Alvaro Morata hasn't been in the best of form lately, opening the door for Giroud to start more games.

Giroud's pace is poor at just 53 and that shouldn't rise or fall much since it isn't his style of play, but his physicality at 83 is impressive and under Antonio Conte, that may just move up a notch or two to the 85 regions with more game time under his belt.

His shooting is impressive but could improve from 81 to 82-83 as his main job would be to score goals for the defending Premier League champions. His defensive capabilities aren't great and should stay cemented at 38.

His passing is below average as well, at 70 which could increase to 71 with the creativity of Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas pushing the envelope right behind the French striker.

Giroud isn't known much for his dribbling ability and at 74 that isn't hard to tell. Expect that number to perhaps fall a bit since he won't be spending too much time outside the box to show off his trickery. That could realistically be in the 72 regions.

Stemming from the mediocre dribbling is the 2-star skill moves that Giroud currently has in the game. Don't expect that to change much either as he will predominantly be a goal poacher at Chelsea than anything else.

His weak foot is perhaps a little harsh at just 3-star as we have seen a few rockets come out of his weaker side but that won't change unless we see him banging in goals with that weaker part throughout the rest of the season.

All in all, Chelsea fans should be satisfied with their latest signing and personally for Giroud, it is an opportunity to revitalise his career at a big club where he comes in at a good point with star striker Morata currently struggling to score goals. We could be seeing more starting appearances for a player who promised so much but has delivered very little lately.
