FIFA 18: Signing Messi and Ronaldo to the same team in Career Mode is harder than you thought

Signing these players to the same team is nothing short of a miracle

What's the story?

If you were planning to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to your side in FIFA 18, it may not be a walk in the park, YouTuber Mgh has proved.

The user explores the option of signing the two star players and begins with the Argentine Messi, holding a meeting with Barcelona at first and reducing the asking price of the club from 96 Million GBP to 92 Million GBP. Once the club agrees to the sum, he heads to Messi himself along with his agent to assure them that the star player will receive more than adequate playing time at his new club.

The trio then finishes off the contract obligations, and the user adds 420,000 GBP as Messi's weekly salary. A bargain when you consider that he was already earning more at his current club. They sign a three-year deal with no release clause and it's job done. Lionel Messi now plays for a new club. Up next, Cristiano Ronaldo.

In case you didn't know...

Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest rated player in FIFA 18 with an overall rating of 94. He also made the cover of the game and has been showcased in pretty much every promotion the game has done till date. Get him in career mode, and you really are swinging.

The heart of the matter

Needless to say, bagging Ronaldo after you've exhausted much of your finances on a player like Messi, isn't an easy job. Sure enough, Mgh offers 42 Million GBP for the Portuguese star and receives a resounding no for his troubles. Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane asks for minimum 86 Million GBP and in quite express terms tells the new club to be on their way. Worth a try though, wasn't it?

Zidane's clear message indicates that signing both world class players to the same team may be very difficult if not impossible. Guess we'll have to wait for more keen users to try their hand at career mode and give us something different.

What's next?

FIFA 18 is out on 29th September officially and will be available on PS 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Career mode promises to be a fun feature in the game.

Author's take

So there it is. Dreams of signing both these players may have gone up in smoke but it shouldn't dissuade you from trying your hand at negotiating with the world's best managers and players when career mode and FIFA 18 enter our lives at the end of this month.
