What's the story?

The eleven group of players representing the FIFA 18 Team of the Year (TOTY) look truly fantastic and adding the final touches to this team, EA Sports announced the name of the custodian in this magnificent team.

The honour goes to none other than Manchester United's Spanish stopper David De Gea. The Spaniard has been unbelievable in goal for the Red Devils and his saves have made sure that the team sits in second place in the Premier League. His saves also propelled the team to a Europa League triumph in 2017, which would no doubt have been considered while making the team.

In case you didn't know...

EA Sports released the defenders which included Marcelo and Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid, Leonardo Bonucci from AC Milan and Dani Alves from PSG in the team. De Gea will round off the eleven that looks quite brilliant on paper.

The heart of the matter

David De Gea has been widely considered the best goalkeeper in the world for a couple of years now but his sensational saves in recent times have made people believe that he is certainly in a different class of his own.

Most noticeably, the Manchester United custodian pulled off some heroic saves in a game against Arsenal that have made him essential to the Red Devils' success in the future. In FIFA 18 as well, De Gea remains one of the most popular players in Ultimate Team as well as one of the highest rated goalkeepers.

What's next?

The reveal of De Gea in goal completes the team, which has covered its bases in all parts of the pitch with the attack looking especially potent.

Author's take

No doubt that Messi, Ronaldo and Kane will be the most talked about, but having De Gea in goal gives this team complete solidity.
