EA Sports recently released its Team of The Year for FIFA 18. While Lionel Messi, Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo were selected as forwards, N'Golo Kante, Kevin De Bruyne and Luka Modric were chosen as midfielders. David De Gea was chosen between the sticks while Sergio Ramos and Leonardo Bonucci were selected as centre-backs. Brazilians Dani Alves and Marcelo were chosen as full backs.

There were not many surprises in selection of forwards and midfielders but EA Sports' choice of defenders sparked some debate with people questioning the inclusion of Alves, Bonucci and even Marcelo. Though, it was the non-inclusion of De Gea's club teammate Antonio Valencia which infuriated his fans as they slammed EA Sports on the social media.

Valencia was part of the Manchester United team that won the League Cup and the UEFA Europa League last season. He has worn the captain's armband for Manchester United in many matches marking his progress as a defender and significance as a leader in the United camp.

When a reputed organisation like EA Sports takes 14 days to contemplate the team, one would imagine that everyone would agree with their choices and that there wouldn't be such outrage on social media for the non-inclusion of a player, but such was no the case in reality.

However, one has to praise EA Sports for including four Premier League players in the final XI and giving them the credit they deserve. Having said that, another worthy player has been cruelly omitted and one can't really fathom the reason behind this.
