Nintendo 2DS to get a price cut

Nintendo’s 2DS will soon be available at reduced prices

For gamers interested in purchasing a handheld device, the Nintendo 2DS might appeal to them as Nintendo announced that the device would be seeing a reduction in its price come this month’s end.

The 2DS which currently retails for $129.99 (Approx Rs. 8600) will soon be available for $99 (Approx Rs. 6600) in less than a week from now.

The price cut comes at a time when Nintendo are attempting to revive the sales of their declining handheld devices, and capitalising on the approaching holiday season seems like a perfect place to start.

“The new lower-priced hardware combined with the strong lineup of new games launching this year and arguably the best library of games in this generation makes it a great time to be a Nintendo fan,” said Nintendo marketing executive Scott Moffitt in a statement.

Nintendo also confirmed that the cheaper device will still come with Mario Kart 7 for free.

The 2DS, which released in October 2013, is basically the Nintendo 3DS albeit without the 3D effect and can run almost all of the games in the 3Ds’ arsenal. And gamers will be able to play new games on their 2DS device sooner rather than later, with The Legend of Zelda Triforce Heroes, and Yo-Kai Watch slated for release this Fall.
