It’s been a pretty good year for American gaming giant Electronic Arts.
The company recently posted a Q1 2016 revenue of $1.2 billion along with an increase in net income from $355 million to $442 million year-over-year, which are pretty good figures. Their income from digital sales is now 50% compared to the previous total of 44%.
However. the most exciting announcement was that a new Battlefield game was commisioned for development and will release next year, according to EA’s CFO, Blake Jorgensen.
“What we’ve said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles,” he said. “This year it’s Star Wars Battlefront, next year it’s another Battlefield title.”
Who will develop the game is still unkown, but it’ll most likely be either Viscreal or DICE, both of whom have worked on the series in the past.
2016 is set to be a pretty exciting year with several top games and movies set for releasing, and this announcement just amped the excitement.
