Turtle Rock Creative Director states all DLC maps will be available for free

Evolve

2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios upcoming 4 versus 1 multiplayer co-op shooter Evolve will have a pretty generous model of DLC. In a recent interview with IGN, Turtle Rock Studios Creative Director Phil Robb has stated that all DLC maps planned for Evolve will be available for free.

Turtle Rock has been clear about the fact that DLC’s will be playing a huge role in the Evolves future. But this often divides the community and those who pay more will have a better gaming experience over those who do not. However, Robb wants to address this issue by offering free maps to players so they don’t get booted for not buying the DLC.

"First thing we said was we can't break the community up, so all of our maps will be free. We never want anyone to get booted off of a server because they haven't bought something."

What’s more, these maps will be available to all players at all times. The only paid feature seems to be the additional Hunters and Monsters. The game will also allow anyone to play together, so this means that players who do not purchase the monster/hunter DLC will still be able to play alongside those who have. Robb has stated:

"We'll have characters and monsters, and even if you don't buy them, if your buddy wants to buy the DLC, that's cool, and your game will be enhanced through his purchase. So, you won't be able to play as those characters, but you will certainly be able to play with those characters."

Turtle Rock has a lot of DLC’s planned for Evolve, including the recently announced Hunting Season pass. The pass will contain four new Hunter characters as well as three new Monster skins and will be priced at $24.99.

Evolve is set to launch on February 10th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
